Point A Hotel Glasgow

80 Bath Street, Glasgow - Map
"Small room, but as they say, "perfectly formed". "
The room was a marvel of well-thought-out small-space efficiency. And small it is, (think planes and ships) but it had everything we needed, everything worked, and everything was immaculately clean. The large screen TV was great, and the lighting was a source of great amusement for two superannuated children of the sixties. Groovy, man! The bathroom fixtures, the bed and the linens were all far better quality than you can get at hotels with a much higher price point. The blackout curtain was great, big enough and no gaps. We slept better at Point A than at any other hotel that we can remember: I don't know what a "hypnos" bed is, I only know that the night we stayed at Point A, it felt like the most comfortable bed I had ever slept in. Would I stay at a Point A again? Absolutely. I'm sold.

"Excellent location for rail travellers"
If you're travelling into Glasgow Central station, then this hotel, only 5 minutes walk away is for you. All the usual creature comforts (tea & coffee facilities, hairdryer, iron and board, TV bathroom with soaps and shampoos etc.) you need are there and a great launch point for your time in Glasgow. Highly recommend.

"Conveniently located hotel"
We stayed for a short break and had a lovely time. The hotel is a nice walk along the river from the city centre and there are lots of eating places nearby The staff were very helpful and pleasant. Because you are not in the city centre it is quieter at night. We note that there is building going on nearby so not sure how quiet it would be during the week but it certainly did not affect us.

"Good location, decent price."
Check in was quick and painless, which was good as we'd been soaked in the rain (I'm from Glasgow anyway so used to it). Room was ok, maybe not quite what I'd expect for the price but it was fine. Our room looked onto the entrance of Queen St train station, which was a nuisance in the morning as the tannoy from the station was audible from the room. If staying here again I'd be making sure our room faced onto George Square instead. Bed was comfortable, bathroom nice. Had breakfast in the brasserie looking onto George Square which was really lovely, the sun was out by then too. The breakfast was very good and staff were really helpful. I'd highly recommend this hotel for location for any tourists as you're in the heart of Glasgow city centre, and as you're next to the train station it's quick getting to Edinburgh too. You're a short walk to Merchant City with many nice restaurants and bars, shopping on Argyle St and Buchanan St, and close to a number of subway stops if you want to venture to the West End (well worth doing).

"Great location for the town centre."
Staff very friendly and helpfull. Only problem was the long wait for our evening meal. Waiter was apologetic, and replaced one of our meals which had a "chemicaly" taste.

"A little far from the center of town but pretty"
Very comfortable space for three adults! We had a room with a double bed and a twin bed. The bathroom was nice and spacious, as was the room. We all three were able to get ready in the morning with no problems. Also, it was fairly close to the ScotRail line, so we didn't feel isolated from the city center.

"Nice Hotel close to Hydro"
arrived at hotel our 2 rooms not ready....asked to take a seat & they would get key card to us asap, we went to bar for a couple of drinks, 1hr & 20mins later still no room card, I went back to reception to stand in yet another queue to ask if rooms were ready yet, luckily they were this time, she did apologise, but for a hotel that charges £10 per room extra for an early check in, I feel a refund of £20 should have been given as the rooms were NOT ready on time. Anyway, Hotel decor looks very nice, staff could be better ( even a smile goes along way), made to feel like an inconvenience rather than a guest. There was a function on that night, possibly a wedding and all consideration was on this. Any other guests took a back seat. As a 4 star the hotel should be experienced enough to deal with all guests.

    Explore Glasgow

Vibrant Glasgow, Scotland’s largest city, buzzes on the grayest of days. Its welcoming pubs, electrifying live-music scene, cutting-edge art galleries and trendy shops are among Europe’s best, but it’s the Glaswegians themselves who keep the city’s heart beating. So grab a pint, catch a band and enjoy the camaraderie.

Set off on the Mackintosh Trail to view the city’s best-loved art and architecture, and marvel at the River Clyde’s contrasting futuristic skyline. Shop on popular Sauchiehall Street or head for Merchant City’s classy boutiques. The atmospheric West End boasts cafes, delis and cobbled Ashton Lane, with its twinkling fairy lights. Nearby Kelvingrove Park is great for kids, and Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum is both fascinating and free.

Catch a Rangers or Celtic soccer match at Ibrox or Celtic Park, or avoid that fierce rivalry and check out Glasgow’s third team, Partick Thistle. Explore the surrounding West Highlands by touring lochs, castles and scenic mountains, before warming up with a wee dram o’ whisky at a local distillery.
