There are many excellent things about Mollie’s Bristol: • It’s economical and good value • The reception area is a very welcoming and social space, including a bar and free tea and coffee, desks and comfortable seating • Opening off the reception area, there is a lovely garden courtyard, with tables and chairs and a play area for young people. • The staff are wonderful – always friendly and helpful • The rooms are attractive and the bed and pillows are very comfortable • There are units dispensing free hot and cold water on each floor • The Diner is well designed, with a good, varied menu – and clearly very popular with residents and visitors alike. There’s a couple of shortcomings: • Bizarrely for a relatively new, purpose designed building, there is no guest lift to the first and second floors. So, if you have heavy luggage, make sure to ask for a room on the ground floor • In our bedroom: apart from four hangers, there is nowhere to put cases and content – no desk, no shelves, no cupboards, nowhere to open cases and put clothes, except on the floor. Oddly, in our room, there was plenty of space for a shelving and storage, such as you get in many hotels, even at the budget end, but the floor and wall space was unused. Despite these shortcomings, we would be happy to stay at one of the Mollie's Motel & Diners in UK again.

The building was in a great location. a nice quiet square, just 5 minutes from the start of all the bars and restaurants. The room itself was nothing like the pictures. It was one small room only which contained the shower and the sink. there was no wardrobe or cupboard to put clothes and shoes. There was a single rail attached to a roof beam which had 6 clothes hangers. The most alarming problem, was the fact that there was no toilet. This was located on the landing which needed a separate key to open. This is not ideal when you wake up during the night and its dark and you need to locate the key before you can use the toilet. The room we was allocated, but looked nothing like the pictures, was located at the top of the building. Apparently, it was on the 3rd floor. But to get there, you had to walk up 5 small staircases, 55 steps in total. When we arrived, i did complain about the room and we was offered a different one in the basement, as long as we had used nothing in the room. Unfortunately in the 2 hours between sending my complaint and receiving the reply, we had unpacked and showered, rendering the room used. For the money we paid, the minimum you expect is an en-suite toilet.

Good location, but the service during my stay was poor. I asked for extra pillows on two separate nights. The first time I was told they would be sent up and nothing came. The second time I was told 15 minutes. I waited until midnight with no delivery and no call to explain. There were no slippers in the room, so I went down to buy a pair. I had to pay on the spot at the desk with no option to add it to my room, and the member of staff serving me did not know the price. She checked with a colleague who was not sure either and guessed. Small thing, but it did not look professional. While I was there, the receptionist who had checked me in only a short while earlier asked whether I had arrived the previous day. I was then told there was another guest with the same first and last name. Later a second member of the reception team rang my room, asked where I had booked and to spell my name, and was about to end the call without explaining anything. I had to ask what the problem was, and the call ended abruptly. Being questioned about my own booking in that way was uncomfortable. I also asked for a plaster after a minor injury. I was given one, but only after the staff spent some time working out where the first aid kit was. On top of that, the room was too hot from midnight until morning, and the morning reception team were noticeably flat and unwelcoming. The property itself is fine. The service is what needs fixing.

The property was clean and the room was quiet. Nice and spacious for the price. The staff were polite and helpful and the location next to the train station was ideal. Also good breakfast!

The dinner and breakfast was wonderful. It was a great experience sleeping in a castle.
