Clean, comfortable and in a great location for Anfield

An Unexpectedly Wonderful Stay Our stay at the Municipal Hotel was completely unexpected, but what a lovely surprise it turned out to be. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel incredibly welcome. The doorman greeted us warmly, followed by a lovely welcome from the reception team. We were then personally shown to the lift, which was a really thoughtful touch and immediately gave us the feeling that nothing would be too much trouble. Our room was an accessible room, and we were really impressed with how spacious and well laid out it was. There were clear, uncluttered areas and a fantastic walk-in shower, making the room both comfortable and practical. One of our favourite touches was the turn-down service. Coming back to the room in the evening to find everything beautifully prepared, with ambient music playing, created such a lovely atmosphere and made the stay feel that little bit more special. We also ate in the hotel on our first evening, choosing from the Time to Dine menu, and the food was wonderful. It was the perfect way to start our stay and meant we didn’t need to venture out after travelling. Breakfast the following morning was excellent. There was a fantastic choice of continental options, alongside a cooked-to-order breakfast — and the quality and choice were just perfect. There was something for everyone, and everything felt fresh and beautifully presented. What really stood out throughout our stay, though, was the staff. Every member of the team

We were kept awake all night by the people upstairs. Not cause they were noisy but cause all rooms have wooden floors and you can hear every step. The finish in the rooms was poor, bits of paint on the wood, chipped walls, and the windows were really old, couldn’t be opened and you could hear everything from outside. We booked it for the spa for my husbands 50th, and were informed on arrival that we had to pay to use the pool. £45 each and that was discounted for that we got a swim in the pool, use of sauna and steam room ( standard hotel amenities. However it was labelled as a thermal journey. We were so disappointed in our stay. We had been looking forward to it and it ruined the 50th birthday. The shower taps were also eroded in our room. Will not be staying again.

Very basic rooms, check in experience is completely automated but is not particularly clear. We had 2 rooms and it was fairly painful to get checked in properly. Separately the high tech locks on the rooms don’t work as well as I think they’d hope.
