"Perfect view "
Best views I've had in a resort. From the balcony I could see the Ali'i drive strip with the city lights behind and live music playing until 10-11. Then look the other way and see yellow fish swimming in the crystal clear water! Wish I could have stayed forever lol

"Great location"
The facility is old and their wifi is a joke but the location is perfect in the heart of Kona and the staff are mostly helpful. Parking was only $5/day and the town is very walkable. If you are like us and just use your room to change and to sleep then this is the ideal location. Includes a mediocre continental breakfast, pool and spa.

"It is an awesome resort. Close to the beach."
We had a great stay at this resort. The condo was very nice. The view from our patio was of the golf course, not the beach, but was great non the less. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool and hot tub were fine. Location was very good. Awesome all the way around. We would definitely stay here again.

"My most favourite hotel ever!"
I am a global traveler and I must say that the Big Island Retreat is one of the best places I ever visited! Why? 1. The personal touch - chatting to the hostess Gigi is like talking to an old friend - she will wait for you even if you have late arrival and she will give you advice for cool places and tours to visit with a complimentary drink. 2. The design and the character - most hotel chains (even the five star ones) lack the personal touch in the design. Our room looked like a Hawaiian garden - from the bed sheets to the complimentary beach towels everything had flowers and the bed frame was a piece of art crafted from wood with pineapples and vines! We also had a welcoming pack with guidebooks, maps and recommended tours - so we found everything that we needed to know about the island. 3. The goodies - from free 100% local sources Kona coffee to free snorkelling gear, sun lotions, mosquitoes repellents, barbeque area and a whole collection of guidebooks and weekend reads, there is everything that you need for a nice beach experience! 4. The transport - there is a super cute Hawaiian trolley that will take you to the nearby Kona for only 2 dollars! 5. The location-the beach by the hotel is one of the most famous snorkelling spots-dive in the morning when the water is low and calm and you will see over 20 different species and maybe even a turtle!

Kona Reef has no onsite Management so Kona Bali Kai down the street manages. Samantha is awesome and very responsive. This is not a hotel but condos and some are privately owned- so we dealt with construction noise next door. Beds are hard as a rock but everything else was great. Washer and dryers in units and all kitchen necessities that you can possibly need. Close to town but far enough away to not deal with it if you don't want to. Great location and great views!!!! No sand beach which is typical for Kona.

Honalo is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Honalo, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Honalo hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
