"Nice hotel with a short walk to Dubrovnik old town"
Lovely beach with great views. Close to old town with an easy 15 minute walk down hill.We got a room upgrade to a suite (thank you Expedia). Limited beach menu if you want a light snack. Old town is expensive and hotel food and drink pricing is on the high side. Great stay.

"Nice hotel, hit and miss facilities."
We went for our honeymoon, expecting a 5* experience - we had booked Dinner B and B. To be honest, although it was a nice hotel it didn't meet the standard I expected, I enjoyed it but left a little disappointed. Here's some detail: Pros: The rooms are stylish and comfortable, the view of the sea was breathtaking. We even got a bottle of cava from the manager for its being our honeymoon, which was really sweet! Most of the staff were lovely and helpful, and chatty too. Cavtat itself was beautiful and we enjoyed the boat trips to Lokrum island and Dubrovnik (cheap and definitely worth doing!) Cons: The food was okay, a little hit and miss and menus weren't very well thought through - breakfast definitely better than dinner. I would recommend B and B option, and go to Cavtat itself for your main meal. There was barely any space by the pool so we didn't use it. People got up stupid early to lay their towels on the sunbeds by the sea too (there is NOT a beach -do not expect this, but it is Croatia :) ) So, you were unlikely to get anywhere to sit if you got there after 8:30 am! Also, most of the sunbeds by the sea ended up in the shade by 11am. SOLUTION - we ended up going round the bay to a little beach bar that had great views, great beer and a chilled vibe, it was much more pleasant and you could dive off of the rocks into the crystal blue sea from there - I recommend that! All in all we enjoyed it, but don't go with 5* expectations.

"Sun Gardens Dubrovnik is a great hotel"
I gave the hotel an excellent rating, it's almost impossible to give faults. My only constructive criticism would be: 1) improve the layout of the beach section, it's currently tilting making it uncomfortable to relax in the sun chairs. Leveling it out in terasse sections would fix it. 2) residential living with sea view should have better furniture on the balcony to make the stunning view more enjoyable. Apart from this, I would say that this is a top resort. The facilities are great with an amazing sport center.

"Lovely boutique hotel close to city"
This is a small, personal boutique hotel within easy reach of the walled city of Dubrovnik. From the moment we arrived the lovely concierge made us feel very welcome and could not do enough for us - & this was typical of the whole staff. The hotel is quiet & small with a feeling of tranquility. We were lucky enough to have a room upgrade & were delighted with the facilities & fantastic views over the city. The food in the restaurant was superb & a pleasant change to the usual fare throughout the country. There is only one issue, which is why we have marked the overall rating down. The hotel management insist on taking bookings for weddings in the gardens and bookings in the restaurant for large groups, which are not for guests staying in the hotel. This meant the peace of the gardens was shattered on 2 of our afternoons by large wedding parties, which forced us to retire to our room & we could not eat in the restaurant for 2 evenings as there were large groups which would have spoilt the lovely peaceful setting. The hotel manager was very apologetic & understanding & dealt with us appropriately and assured us that this issue is being dealt with for the future. This is a very, very expensive hotel by Croatian standards & would justify the price if it ticked all the boxes, but before booking I would check with the hotel that there are no weddings in the garden or large groups booked into the restaurant.

"No problems."
There were no surprises as the hotel and its facilities were as described on the relevant web sites. The only negative experience was the cost, due to the poor current value of the £GBP.

"Excellent hotel in a fantastic location."
Lovely hotel in a very lovely part of Dubrovnik. Excellent facilities. Beautiful views. Nice walks from hotel. Great bus service from near hotel into old town. Not the cheapest place in terms of food and drink in hotel and nearby bars and restaurants.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
