Really good value property full of friendly staff, good breakfast, excellent dinner choices and a large upstairs room with a sofa and air con. Good location for walking at Causey Arch or visiting Beamish, as well as Durham.

Big shout out to receptionist she was so helpful. Night staff on door could be more professional and polite when checking our names when we came back at 11.30pm.

Excellent Staff, very helpful

Very friendly staff who even allowed early check in. The room was spacious but felt like it needed a bit of an update, decor felts a bit worn. The room layout was strange too with no separate bathroom, the shower was on one side of the room and a bath and sink on the other. Toilet was separate. The shower kept dripping in the night which kept us up as it was in the room. There was also quite a lot of road noise, but I am a light sleeper. Breakfast was decent although limited, but we were the only ones there when we stayed, so limited choice made sense. Overall, it was fine, but not what we expected for a Hotel du Vin.

So so stay in hottest week of year. Room size good but design of room let it down. Restaurant not opened on Monday/Tuesday evening ( in a 4star hotel!) and bar in hotel disappointing. could not get room to a comfortable temp during whole stay, whatever we tried, and fan in room was completely useless.

Great stay for us is a regular room but which was actually really large. We’d have liked the gym to be a bit bigger and for the coffee shop to open before 9am - this didn’t detract from our stay.
