The Hotel Telluride

199 North Cornet Street, Telluride - Map
"Very convenient, walking distance to everything! "
The hotel itself is beautiful and clean, the staff was very helpful, the rooms are very clean and comfortable it has a deck which is nice although ours backed into a high school soccer field, the view of the mountains are still their though beyond, they had water, coffee and cookies every afternoon. The restaurant itself we found to be not good at all. After not being good and very pricey, I told the staff they said they would mention that? Over all though it was very nice!!

Iron Horse Inn - Durango Hotels

Iron Horse Inn

5800 North Main Avenue, Durango - Map
"Old but well-maintained"
We spent one night in the Iron Horse Inn as we were traveling through Durango. We chose this hotel because the rate was good for the time of year for Durango, and the hotel is pet friendly. Overall, this is an older property but it's well-maintained. Still, you can't escape the fact that the design and architecture scream 1975. The room we stayed in was a split level with one bed upstairs and one downstairs. This would probably be a great setup for kids, but for us we had rather have had both beds (or a larger one) downstairs. The hotel itself is further north of Durango than I expected - certainly not walkable - so you'll have to drive into town if you want to spend time there. That said, there are lots of restaurants within a mile of the hotel. The hotel does offer breakfast, but we didn't eat there. It looked like a typical hotel breakfast, but with a few less options than some of the chain hotels. The Silverton railroad goes right by the property and that is interesting to watch. Overall, it was a good value for the money and very pet friendly.

Yes, it is noisy but the historic nature of the building and the easy walking access to the slopes and to the main street made staying here a must! We will come back to Telluride and we will stay again at the New Sheridan.

The Peaks Resort and Spa

Beautiful views, close to shops and gondola into Telluride. Friendly staff. My son had gotten car sick right before we arrive, valets were very helpful in helping to get me towels and spray to clean the car and my son. We did not use the spa services but did enjoy the heated indoor/outdoor pool, hot tubs and on site restaurant. We even stayed an extra night b/c it was so peaceful and serene. I would def. go back here without a doubt!

Teller House - Silverton Hotels

Teller House

1250 Greene Street, Silverton - Map
"Refurbished historical hotel"
This hotel was quite nice and well done. The antique decor was very beautiful and authentic. No TV in rooms and some rooms have shared bath. If you are elderly or handicapped do not stay here. The stairs are long and steep and the altitude is about 9700', which makes breathing an issue if coming from low altitude. Great place for younger people who are in good physical condition and like hiking and rustic towns.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
