"Nice hotel for a view and a pleasant walk"
I stayed at the hotel for 2 night, I had a pleasant stay. The hotel was very well maintained and had nice areas to walk around. Presentation was great. The dinner choices I didn't find that great and reception in the room was poor, but apart from that I would recommend.

"Weekend break"
Clean and comfortable, but how this hotel retains 4 * is questionable. Basic facilities with very high prices for food drink etc. Staff could not have been nicer though, very professional and courteous at all times. A bit of a tired building from the early 80's

"Disappointed this time"
We have stayed at the Apollo 3 times before with no problems . There were too many little things that made us annoyed this time not to mention. The first thing was, outside our room there was a ceiling tile missing and underneath there was a bucket all weekend, it was only removed around an hour or so before we left. When we went into our room it looked a little worn and in need of updating. I started to fill the kettle and noticed black bits floating in the water. The element had burnt out , so had to walk along the corridor to the house keepers room to get it replaced. The room was very hot all night despite turning off the towel heater. We only noticed in the morning that there was only one bath and hand towel for two of us, no bath mat either. There was a bottle of bathroom cleaner left in the bathroom as well, oh and when my husband tried to move the shower head, it came off in his hand. We reported this to staff on the way to breakfast and they were very apologetic. Returned to the room after breakfast , which was excellent by the way and went to lock our valuables in the safe, but we couldn't use it as it was locked . We went out for the day and on returning to the room went to make a cup of tea only to find seven sachets of coffee, fourteen sachets of sugar and no tea. Last but not least , the room was very noisy as near a busy road so not the relaxing weekend we were hoping for. Sorry for the bad review but we were disappointed.

"nice hotel but impossible to find hotel car park."
The hotel is located in a pedestrian only area. The roads in central Basingstoke are a complex series of one-way streets. We knew exactly where the hotel was but could not get near it by road. We eventually found a short-stay car-park and walked to hotel to ask for directions. After another circuit of the one-way system, we eventually found the correct turn-off. Receptionist was very helpful. Room good. Breakfast OK.

"Well situated, clean and comfortable"
The hotel is right in the centre which means it's so easy to get to the shops. They had a safe place for us to leave our bikes (we were on a cycling weekend trip). Breakfast was great. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and clean. The only thing I didn't like was the toilet wasn't in the bathroom it had its own room, but the basin to wash your hands was in the bathroom. But other than that we had a fantastic stay and would definitely recommend it.

"City centre apart- hotel"
Brilliant. Stayed here while my husband was in Royal Berks Hospital for a shoulder replacement . Surgery went well but due to complications with his other health issues, my expected 3 day stay became 11. I stayed in apartment 502, on the fifth floor [de luxe studio]. So quiet, great view towards the abbey, Forbury Gardens, the Shard & 5 minutes to the Oracle shopping centre. 15 minutes walk to the hospital, far quicker than using taxis or buses with the horrendous traffic, 10 minute walk to railway station. The apartment was my oasis a the end of many stressful hours at the hospital. Extremely light; airy; well furnished; very well equipped for those who want to self cater & spotlessly clean. Both washing machine & dishwasher were well used. Welcome starter packs for a basic breakfast & washing powders very useful Both the staff at head office & the apartments could not have been more welcoming, kind & helpful. Could not recommend more highly to young & old alike, for business or pleasure.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Kingsclere hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
