"Excellent value for money"
I was positively surprised with the Anchorage Grand - I had stayed at a very shabby hotel for my first night, which was actually a bit more expensive than Anchorage Grand. Hotel prices in Anchorage are rather high overall. The Anchorage Grand was great value for money though! The rooms are large, very clean, with very comfortable beds and extremely helpful staff. Would definitely recommend it.

"Handy hotel used by Holland America"
This hotel is used by Holland America and they have a tour office right in the hotel. The hotel was easy to get to using public transportation (People Mover - $2.00 USD) from the airport and was only a block away from the Holland America Transfer to Seward Hospitality Suite in the Anchorage Convention Center. The hotel is downtown and two blocks from a shopping mall. The hotel room had very worn carpets, an older and worn bathtub/shower BUT the bed was clean and comfortable. The staff were helpful and polite. The restaurant buffet breakfast was adequate (a little cold and dried out) but reasonably priced. The server we had was excellent!

"Getting what you are paying"
+ breakfast are included, but (-) they are really boring and have never changed during 4 mornings. + free coffee and drinks all day in the lobby, but (-) hot water machine doesn't work for all stay. + room was clean and very good size (we had corner room). + free shuttle to the airport and downtown It's really good hotel if you don't have very high expectations.

    Explore Anchorage

Alaska's biggest city (by far) brings the goods when it comes to the great outdoors. The midnight sun shines in summer and the northern lights flicker in winter. Yes, those are beluga whales chattering in the bay beside the bike trail. And that is a moose nibbling the shrub beside your car.

The laid-back metropolis spreads far in the shadow of hulking mountains. To get a nature fix, walk or cycle the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail. It departs downtown, and soon you're in the woods spotting wild creatures. Flattop Mountain rewards hikers likewise. The Anchorage Museum stuffs galleries with formidable landscape photos and indigenous weapons. The Alaska Native Heritage Center features artists' studios and model villages from the state's 11 major cultures.

When you’ve worked up an appetite, downtown is the bulls-eye for java-pouring cafes and traditional seafood dinners. Midtown bustles with office workers, university students and casual restaurants. Spenard boasts ethnic eats, edgy boutiques and live music. Sweet beer bars hide among the big-box retailers and residences of South Anchorage.
