If

The first/bottom floor is where we were put, the room smelled of mold and smoke, there was dog food left on the floor, the flat screen TV had poor resolution, the toilet had cleaner sprayed on it that wasn’t wiped clean, the lady who checked us in had to let us in the room because the key cards didn’t work and actually said,” just don’t leave the hotel and if you do, let someone know and they’ll let you back in the room.” We did pay for the 9-10 hours we HAD to stay in the room for but checked out as soon as we found another hotel to go to. The only good thing was when we checked out, the other lady was nice.
I don’t know if the sheets were stained or dirty

Sad front desk staff.

Our group came in for a Memorial service in Valdez, and were greeted with a very unfriendly front desk staff. After finding out one party of the group, had not received a confirmation from the hotel, the staff became increasingly indignant. I remember and could go on, but I personally canceled my stay, and went with the group to a different hotel. And come to find out, I still am responsible for the room that I personally canceled.

Very Disappointing Service, Property is Fine

The place was fine, but they only service the rooms every three days. The biggest issue I had was with the shuttle for the train depot. The notice at the desk says you need to reserve the train depot shuttle the night before you need it, so I went to the desk the evening before our train trip and reserved the shuttle for 6:45 the next morning. At 6:40 we get to the desk and there's no one there. We wait until 6:45, still no employee at the desk, and no shuttle. I waited another few minutes, then called to the office behind the desk and employee wanders out, I ask when the shuttle will be there, and she says it's at the other hotel and won't be there for a while. When I asked her if she had a note for our reservation, she refused to look, when I asked what our options were, she just said "I guess you can call an Uber or something." It was extremely disappointing. Instead of the free shuttle I reserved, I had to pay extra for an expedited Lyft and barely made it to the train depot on time.

No shovel from or to the airport, first level is just bad, sleeping below car parking area looking up for $360 a night it’s just bitterly disappointing. The coffee pods are used, never got restocked or cleaned. Just way way way way overpriced

Staff lied to me about shuttle service. I waited more than an hour after 4 calls for pickup from airport. During check-in, two people on duty, only one waited on clients while there was a line. The one who couldn't care less, was also snippy with me when I was having a conversation with the employee who was checking me in. Not coming back to Wyndham....

Great place to rest

The Wyndham Garden was our base, staying three different times during our time in Alaska. It is formerly a Holiday Inn Express, but they are in the process of upgrading/updating the hotel. The front desk was super friendly. The free shuttles back and forth from the train depot and airport were super helpful, since we did not have a car. The breakfast was minimal, but the two women working were quick to keep everything stocked and ready. We were very happy with our stay here.

Room was dirty when we checked in. They came and cleaned it. Then we scheduled house keeping to clean the room after 4 nights and they did not clean the room. The breakfast bad... and area dirty. First 4 days pancake machine was broken, and the juice machine was always broken. Very run down property, they have not taken care of the property.

Wyndham Garden

When we arrived, we were told they had a break in by another couple. When asked by the staff, we were told it was maintenance. The hotel is in serious need of updates. Our room had candy on the floor, the bed was not nearly made, the bathroom had debris on the floor and the carpets throughout the hotel are nasty! If I was not needing a room to lay my head, me and my husband would have left!

This hotel is a reclaimed Holiday Inn. I personally think it has not reached the Wyndham Garden level of style and acclaim, but is charging those rates. The hotel is under rennovations and being upgraded. My room specifically did not have a smoke detector installed and the bathroom needed work and the curtains were not hanging correctly. Its the little things that make a hotel excellent beyond average.

Check-in staff were cordial and helpful, however it was clear they were doing long shifts to cover the overall lack of staff. Housekeeping did not occur during my stay. My washroom facilities were broken, and while I notified the staff that I would return at night and was happy for them to access the room during the day for repairs, I returned to the same issue. I was transferred to a new room, however this room had not been cleaned from the previous tenants. Again, the check-in counter staff were doing their best but management should really step up their operation, especially in the busy tourist season in Alaska.
