"Peaceful hotel, excellent food"
My husband and I came here the day after our wedding for a couple of days rest and relaxation. The staff were very welcoming and attentive and brought us two complimentary glasses of prosecco after we were shown to our room, which was a lovely thought. The room was clean, cosy and comfortable and the bathroom soap, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner were in large bottles rather than the usual tiny ones, which were then replenished - which was better as I always seem to run out of shower gel! On the first night, we ate at the hotel and the restaurant has 2 AA Rosettes - well deserved. The head chef, Chris Lee, has clearly put together a well thought out, seasonal and flavourful menu. I had the chicken liver parfait with brioche to start, and a perfectly cooked lamb dish for main - with peas, broad beans and a duck fat fondant potato. There are a few other dishes I would love to try there and so would love to return to keep sampling the menu! Dinner, and breakfast, was served in the conservatory at the back of the hotel, looking out over the grounds and down to Windermere. There was an extensive selection of hot and cold food on offer for breakfast. Guests here also have complimentary access to the spa at the Macdonald Old England Hotel. We were most impressed with the hotel staff, who were both friendly and helpful. We felt truly welcome there. We would love to come and stay again. Thank you to all of you for helping make the first days after our wedding so wonderful!

Waterhead Hotel

"Great location and truly dog friendly"
There are an increasing number of hotels around nowadays that say that they are dog friendly.....when in reality, they are not. The Watershead truly is dog friendly (with a supplement for the dog in your room) with water bowls, treats, towels and a comfy dog bed provided in the room. The hotel is also welcoming for your dog to join you in the restaurant for all meals. The hotel overlooks the Ambleside end of Lake Windermere and this is great for a dog walk of even letting you dog do it's business as there is also a park opposite. I only had breakfast at the hotel, but this was 5 out of 5. Every member of staff was polite and helpful. The only very minor point to not give full marks was that the hotel is not brand new and therefore not as clean as the newly refurbished/built ones. However, the hotel is certainly not dirty and meets my cleanliness standard easily. I can fully recommend this hotel....especially if you want to to bring your dog to enjoy this beautiful part of the lake district.

Troutbeck is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Troutbeck, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Troutbeck hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
