On a trip from SF to LA, I stopped and spent the night at the Quail Lodge in scenic Carmel. The resort is tucked in the tranquil Carmel Valley. It’s only 4 miles off CA-1 but feels worlds away. The check-in process was smooth. Every staff member I interacted with was professional, friendly, and helpful. I reserved a standard ‘Superior’ Room. The rooms are classic California rustic and very spacious with patios or balconies. The bathroom had stone and glass showers with a separate vanity area. Both the bedroom and bathroom were immaculately clean. The grounds are excellently-maintained, including numerous practice putting greens and a bocce ball court. The fitness center is small but well-equipped and the modest (for a resort) outdoor swimming pool is heated for evening / winter swimming. Free Wireless and ample Free Self Parking. My only regret is that I was able to stay only one night and did not have the opportunity to play golf. But I will stay here again and play the course. (It looked to be in fantastic condition.) Highly recommend.

From the moment we walked into the lobby, until the moment we checked it, the Bernardus Lodge was nothing less than wonderful! Sophisticated, yet not pretentious. Delicious dinner, great wine, luxury room, beautiful gardens!
