"Beautiful & Convenient "
This was the first time we had stayed at Portola, and were pleasantly surprised with the facility and the location. Very close to fisherman's wharf and just blocks from a trolley that can take you down to Cannery Row. The grounds themselves were well-kept. The staff was all very friendly. We even took our dog who was treated just like a part of the family.

"Fabulous Resort"
Unfortunately we arrived a little after 6 with the sea fog very present. We still enjoyed the nicely heated pool & took in the beautiful grounds. Our room was facing a pond with a fountain. The room itself was very spacious, very modern & clean. The bed was extremely comfortable & had a lot of pillows. Nice table & chairs on our patio which we didn't enjoy because of the cool weather but how wonderful it must be when the sun & a little heat is present. The restaurant closes early (9pm), so by the time we were ready, we opted for the hotel bar where we were greeted by Rebecca. We sat next to the fireplace & she made fantastic food suggestions. Just an awesome meal & great wine!! Thumbs up to Rebecca as she was a great "host". Yes, you might think this place is pricey but what a great place to stay. We had originally booked an Inn in Carmel & made this last minute change & we definitely did not regret. It is worth every penny. If your budget can allow a little more for your stay in the Carmel area, I would not hesitate a minute to say go for it, you will not regret it. Ask for a cottage room...

"Very relaxing"
The hotel is spread out which makes some of the units very peaceful and removed from the havoc that a lobby could bring about - not that I found much disruptions when I went to the lobby, but it could possibly be that way if there is a big group of guest checking in/out. The bed was comfortable and clean, although the covers were a bit lumpy. Some of the buildings do not have elevators. I found the fitness center, although it took a little effort since the entrance was not well marked. It appeared to be well stock with treadmills and the like.

You will not be disappointed. Lovely charming property. Rooms are spacious and the service was excellent. The restaurant and bar areas are so inviting and the food was excellent. The pool and spa were amazing. Make sure you walk through the wedding gardens....spectacular. Another bonus, while the coastal region is covered in fog, Bernardus is bathed in sun!! "Exactly what I hoped for"
The staff was friendly and the food was decent. We loved the beachfront location and made a campfire with smores one night. The room was small but confortable and the bedding was cozy with fluffy pillows. Plenty of towels were provided including beach towels. Our pup especially loved being able to join us on vacation and play on the beach. The grassy pet area was a nice bonus even though it was a bit of a walk. There weren't many other dogs onsite but most that we met were friendly. Thank you for exceeding our expectations and helping us create some great memories.

Carmel Valley is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Carmel Valley, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Carmel Valley hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
