Columba Hotel Inverness by Compass Hospitality

7 Ness Walk, Inverness - Map
"Perfectly located hotel in Inverness"
Columba Hotel is perfectly in Inverness and is easy to find on the scenic River Ness. It is a short walk away from downtown, bus and train stations, restaurants and supermarkets, and the various parks and churches along the River Ness. Staff is pleasant and willing to help in anything you need. Wi-fi is very weak though, so don't expect to be doing too much uploading of vacation pictures.

"Beautiful historic hotel."
A gorgeous hotel. Staff were all very friendly, helpful, and went out of their way to make sure everything went smoothly. Room was lovely, with plenty of space for 3 of us. Breakfast was great and we also had a very delicious dinner at the restaurant. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

pentahotel Inverness

63 Academy Street, Inverness - Map
"Comfortable with central location."
Penta was quite comfortable - nice beds, linens, chairs, windows and laminated flooring which was nice for our allergies. Quite modern decor - and the reception area is part disco - but the staff was helpful and friendly. Two working elevators were a rare amenity. There is an electric tea pot and clean cups and glasses. Room service options were reasonable and tasty. The TV had free movies but the system was a bit spotty.

Macdonald Aviemore Highland Hotel

Macdonald Aviemore Resort, Aviemore - Map
"Conveniently located in Aviemore town centre"
Stayed here for two nights as part of a short break in the Cairngorms. The staff were very friendly and polite, the service was quick and efficient. Room was pleasant enough but would have benefitted from being cleaned a bit more thoroughly - there was some engrained dirt in the grouting between the tiles in the shower enclosure and around the hinges of the toilet seat. The walls between rooms were thin - it was possible to hear the conversation of the guests in the next room, even though they were talking quietly. The restaurant/bar was excellent, good food and drinks which were served very quickly. The resort is based next to what used to be the Aviemore Centre - now thankfully demolished, this area was very run-down by the mid 1990's, it is looking much fresher these days.

Macdonald Drumossie Hotel

Old Perth Road, Inverness - Map
"Wedding venue"
My wife and I found the Drumossie a comfortable and relaxing venue if a little pricey. We attended my sons wedding and resided for 2 nights which included 2 breakfasts and a wedding feast. The breakfasts were included in our room rate and we thought ample and well cooked although some of our fellow guests did not partake as they thought the prices a bit too heavy. The breakfast room is very comfortable and the service good if a little stretched at busy times. One little gripe which didn't bother me as I don't like baked beans, was that you had the choice of black pudding or baked beans , this didn't bother my wife either as she doesn't like black pudding, so not really a gripe just an observation. Our room overlooked the main entrance and was well sound proofed and well appointed and a nearby lift is a welcome aid to access. The coffee/tea tray is well stocked including drinking chocolate and shortbread and Glenlivet water is also made available. The bed was a kingsize and wonderfully comfortable, one of the best I have slept on. The rooms had a nice temperature and the TV had a large scope of channels. The bathroom was large and included a separate shower cube next to a full size bath. Water had a good flow and there were plenty shower gells etc. There was a separate shaving mirror but this was not much cope as the room was a little under lit, but all in all an excellent room. The wedding venue for the service and the meal was excellent and the dance room has a large floor.

"Hotel within easy distance of amenities"
The exterior of the hotel looked a bit "tired" but the room was lovely, spacious and spotless. Each hotel on the resort has its own restaurant. We weren't too impressed with the one in our hotel (a burger type bar), a bit basic and "industrial" in its looks. However the meal we had was reasonably good and waiter service was good, although we chose to dine elsewhere thereafter.

Scottish Highlands is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Scottish Highlands, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Scottish Highlands hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
