The Horton Grand Hotel - San Diego Hotels

The Horton Grand Hotel

311 Island Ave, San Diego - Map
"We celebrated Veteran's Day in Dan Diego."
The hotel is ideally located in the Gaslamp district and is in walking distance to Little Italy, and the Midway Museum. The hotel is very quaint, and clean. The room we shared was HUGE with a fridge, coffeemaker, and a balcony to over look the street. We enjoyed our stay, and would return in a heartbeat!,

"Nice Hotel in a Great Area"
I had a great stay at The Sofia. The only complaints I have are that the pillows were very overly stuffed and sort of hard. I also did not like the staff at the restaurant connected to the hotel.

"Cool, restored old building"
I knew the Gaslamp Plaza was in an old part of the city which was fine. They've done a nice job of restoring it to be a modern hotel. Everything worked fine and the staff was as nice as could be. Things I didn't like: I'm not used to paying for valet parking every night but there wasn't much choice. Any other parking lot nearby would have cost as much or more. The rooftop breakfast was fine for free but hey, how about adding a waffle maker? We asked for a high floor away from the street but that didn't help to lessen the noise from nearby bars. Apparently this is in a popular nighttime area. If you plan to stay out late you'll have no problem here.

"Chilling Experience"
Would have bee a 5, but for one chilling issue. Let me preface by saying this is not exaggeration. It took 5 minutes for hot water to make it to my sink faucet or shower. 5 minutes! I actually gave up on a hot shower and jumped in for a cold quickie. Half way thru, it began to get warm and finally hot when I was rinsing shampoo from my head. Otherwise. the room was clean, well appointed, including a big screen HD TV,and the bed was great.

"Great location"
.Lived the location for a first visit to San Diego. Hotel staff was friendly and very helpfu.l. Only reason for less than an all 5 review is that breakfast area was small and had to get coffee for the room coffee maker from the front desk twice because housekeeping didn't leave any.
