"nice rooms and overall facility"
Nice rooms and overall facility, small gym and pool/hot tub, convenient ice machines, coffee and tea in lobby all the time, microwave and mini fridge in room, and decent hot buffet breakfast included. Would stay again, very decent higher end feel, decent amenities (and a free local shuttle too, which didn't use, but nice to know they have). I would suggest Green Tree do the 'disinfect remotes and phone' schtick, where a sign is left noting that such things are disinfected, as rest of room very inviting, but those items are always suspect. Will stay again, great location to conference center I had to go to. Right off I-17, easy.

"Funky place with fantastic staff but not so clean"
The Clarendon Hotel is a funky throw-back of a motel centered around a large pool in an up and coming urban section of Phoenix. Everything about this place is mellow and pleasant. Check in was a breeze. Issues with a broken shower were quickly addressed and fixed. Tranquilo, which is located in the hotel, has the most amazing Mexican food ever. They offer room service and they are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A must try! As a frequent traveler, I would consider staying here again since it's so off the beaten path, but the caveat is the room condition. While the housekeeping staff is always present, friendly and seemingly busy, my room was truly dirty. The alarm clock was filled with dust and grime, the vanity mirror had smudges over it, the sinks and shower were not cleaned well (hair in drain, debris in sink). I was so disappointed by this. Crumbs on the floor. Etc. I wanted to love this place, but I found myself distracted by all the dirt, dust, and clearly "missed" smudges, fingerprints, dust, debris, stains on the bed covers, etc. If they can improve housekeeping, this place is overall excellent. For now, the veneer of hip and happening quickly diminishes upon the discovery of fellow traveler's debris.

    Explore Phoenix

Arizona’s capital and biggest city, sun-kissed Phoenix really rolls out the red carpet for visitors. The best launch pad for exploring? The Cityscape entertainment district in the heart of downtown. It’s easily reached from Sky Harbor International Airport on the PHX Sky Train, which connects with citywide light rail.

After a cheesy egg dish at Matt’s Big Breakfast, learn about the Southwest and its native people at the one-of-kind Heard Museum – don’t miss the kachinas. The special exhibits always shine at the nearby Phoenix Art Museum. Refuel after a day of museum hopping with gourmet pizza from beloved Pizzeria Bianco or a hearty steak at old-school Durant’s. We love those dark booths.

The city’s most famous landmark, Camelback Mountain, is a popular spot for a hike. Just north, the Musical Instrument Museum offers an engaging symphony of global sounds. Spend an afternoon exploring the sprawling Desert Botanical Garden – the desert wildflowers are a highlight. If pampering is your goal, the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa is a classic, well-manicured getaway.
