"Perfect in every way"
We only stayed here for one night but everything about this hotel was spot on. All staff were friendly and attentive, especially Wayne the doorman. The spa treatments were great, as were the cocktails.

"Lovely hotel that is usefully close to the A19"
We needed a break driving from London to Scotland and chose this hotel in Yarm as a place not too far from the road. What a haven it turned out to be! We were late leaving Lonon and were unlucky with holdups and average speed cameras so didn't arrive till 9.30pm. I phoned ahead to say we would be late, and the very reasuring receptionist wished us a good journey and told us food was available in the bar until 10pm. This was a relief. As I had been engaged in hard physical work in London I was looking forward to a bbath and comfortable bed. All my wishes wer granted when I saw our room. I am not sure if we were upgraded but the room was really a suite, absolutely enormous, and so comfortable. There was a huge bath and seperate huge shower. The bed was heaven to sleep in. Breakfast in the morning was eggs benedict which my husband declared "best ever". Staff uniformly friendly and helpful. A great stay.

"Expected better"
After originally booking a normal double room I received an email from the hotel a few days before asking if we would like to upgrade our room to an executive double which I did after checking the pictures. When we got to the room it looked more like the normal room so I complauned that I'd only upgraded based on the photos of the room but was told they only have a few rooms that looked like that and they had gone. They did show me a few different rooms we could move to and I chose one of these which was slit better but still didn't have the bathroom we were expecting. Overall we enjoyed our stay as the hotel was in a great location but the pictures were deceiving.

"Convenient hotel near A1"
It was frustrating that Reception closed at 5pm, and that the doors are locked at 11pm. I needed to make a 36mile round trip to book into the Lodge as we were not sure the wedding reception evening festivities would end. The shower grouting would benefit from a good clean and freshen up!

"Very good hotel, wonderful city"
Lots of character, wonderful grounds, very peaceful and very friendly staff. Couple of minor points, service after dinner in the lounge was mixed - good on 2 nights but really poor on the other, took over half an hour to get a drink. And while the food is technically executed brilliantly, the balance of the dishes is a bit off. My main was far too rich (i would challenge anyone to have room for dessert afterwards) and my partners main was very salty (and she loves her salt). Lastly, the spa is a little bit tired. However, overall it was a very good stay and York is a wonderful city. A great place to enjoy for itself or for exploring York.

"Pleasant, restful stay in Harrogate"
The Cairn Hotel is easily spotted from the main road and has its own carpark directly in front of the hotel. Checking-in was trouble-free and the staff on duty had a professional and nice manner. Our room was huge with windows all down one side giving a tremendous view over Harrogate. We had everything we needed including tea-making facilities and a television. Some might think the bathroom a bit dated, but it was fine for us: extremely clean and it had a bath as well as a shower overhead. Breakfast was the only meal we took in the hotel, but it was extremely good. The organisation was excellent. A member of staff showed you to a table and then took your order for tea/coffee and toast. You then served yourself with cereal, fruit and juice. And joined a small queue to be served with whichever components of a cooked breakfast you wanted. Again, the staff on duty were excellent, attentive, quick and helpful. During our short stay, the other guests seemed to be mainly elderly people, some accompanied by younger relatives we presumed. This contributed to a calm, relaxed and well-mannered atmosphere. The only slight blip in the proceedings was that I was asked to pay for the room on arrival. I had thought, but wasn't sure, that I'd already paid Expedia. On returning home, I found that I had already paid. I emailed Expedia and Cairn. Expedia auto-replied with pointers to their website. Cairn replied and apologised and credited my debit card within 24 hours.

Had a fantastic time at this quirky, hidden hotel! Excellent location! Walking distance for everything we needed! Room was clean and quirky! Free wifi, which was great seen as the room we stayed in had no service. Staff were incredibly friendly and the cocktail I enjoyed before our evening out was most delightful! We would definately recommend!

North Yorkshire is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in North Yorkshire, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your North Yorkshire hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
