The Cedar Court Hotel Harrogate Experience

From my first enquiry re accessibility with Ilaria. I was shown such care and kindness. On our late evening arrival we were greeted with a warm and friendly smile offering help with our luggage and bringing a shower chair for our room. At breakfast we were given help with carrying our plates and food to our table. Although it was self-service. Again with a warm friendly greeting. The bufffet choice was outstanding We dined in the Amber Restaurant which was an informative experience. With Anne. Charlotte, Mateo and all the staff. Thanks for a great stay in this newly refurbished hotel. The original features and modern decor plus their dog friendly hospitality was amazing. The beautiful tranquil grounds a few minutes away from the hustle & bustle of the city centre is a rare find to highly recommend. Thanks to all the friendly staff for making it so.

Good over night stay. Restaurant - iffy

Love the self check in. Lovely place. Good breakfast. Comfy room. But... £8 for parking is steep. Dinner was a shocker - Fish and chips. £21.00 - Way over priced for what it is. The fish was tiny and the batter was oily and beyond cooked. They did offer to re-do it, but if the cook served that without batting an eyelid, then who knows what would've come out next. Also, why serve 2 teaspoons of mushy peas and not season them?

Cedar Court is more than a hotel. It is a historical landmark of Harrogate because it is the first hotel in the city. Stylist building with nostalgic touch whilst it is also morden. The Amber is a fine dining. The breakfast is wonderful. Located within close proximity to city. Spacious room. Also it has ample parking space.

Lovely hotel just outside Harrogate centre

The hotel was a short 10minute walk into Harrogate, plenty of onsite parking at £8 per day. The reception area, bar and restaurant are very nice and modern. Family was large and spacious and the bathroom clean and tidy. The only downside to the hotel is that the room did not have air conditioning. We did have 2 windows which opened, but only slightly, and with no breeze outside it was a warm night. The fire alarm went off, just after 6.30am, which although is not the fault of the hotel, did mean we were awake very early after a late night!

Also they automatically add a service charge to your bill over all a poor experience They also charge for parking which I think on top of £146 for DB&B is a little cheeky

We've stay here several times over a number of years and normally I would have given a higher rating but this it is marked down due to two issues:- a) No orange juice at breakfast on both mornings - they ran out. Why couldn't they just someone down to a shop and bought some more? b) We reported that the TV was working on the first morning of a 2 day stay. The screen said that the aerial was disconnected. Still not working when we checked out the following day AND no explanation as to why from the staff.

The rooms were too warm. Couldnt sleep as it was too hot. Radiators were not on. The noise from builders was inexcusable. 8 a.m work started on a Saturday. The building was shaking. They were either using a kango for getting concrete off the walls. Or a road breaker. We checked out at 9.30 a.m no breakfast couldnt get out fast enough. The man on the desk said im sorry that was it. We were there for a wedding the day before. Had we been notified of the work we could have stayed else where. I will be contacting cedar court hotel. 2 niggles. Firstly the bedrooms were extremely hot even with the windows left open. I dislike paying extra to park my car - the booking sites should make this clear before hand and customer would then be able to avoid this unnecessary surprise on arrival.

Keycards didnt work by the time we got to the room but fixed quickly. Bathroom fan didnt work. Stains on the carpet and marks on the walls. Room was hot despite cooler weather, needed the window open but was directly above entrance on 1st floor so disturbed by voices and peoples smoke so had to close the window, very uncomfortable. Sorry. Can't say about facilities which looked good.

Comfortable break

We were just visiting our son in Harrogate & were fine just for the weekend. However, my husband suffers from Parkinson's & I have Osteoporosis so comfortable seating is really important to both of us. I would suggest that a further comfortable chair could be made available by request, at possibly a small charge, for longer stays.
