Hard bed not able to sleep
Birds are very loud hard to sleep
This is a cheap scummy hotel which has seen better days (about 100years ago)
It is very cheap and so it should be judged as such and for what it is it is very good value.
We had a see view room, in a low floor, as requested and probably the best hotel view out of any hotel I have ever stayed at.
Dog friendly (which was a major reason to stay here) and car parking immediately outside, which is very good for a seaside resort.
Would definitely return - £49 for Sunday and £44 for a Monday - though I did upgrade to having a window .
£10 / night extra for a dog wi=hich is also great value.
Lovely place and had a great weekend.
Sadly let down by the Britannia hotel, staff and group policy.
Curtains in the room didn’t shut, fan in bathroom didn’t work and window didn’t open. We were provided with no coffee and only 1 tea bag in the room and no shampoo. When we mentioned this to staff we were told to speak to a manager who had no power except to speak Parrott like about how the hotel had a self catering policy about things that have run out yet we were told this beforehand. Overall I won’t stay here ever again.
Anyone can make a mistake but when it’s compounded by management that’s unacceptable.
I would not recommend to stay here. It looks a lovely hotel from outside but once we got there it took three quarters of an hour to book in. There was a main reception desk which was extremely slow. When we got to our room there was no shower gel in the dispenser, the decor and doors were in very poor condition. There was a hole in the bedroom wall. No biscuits with tea and coffee facilities.when we returned later after the concert we went to, we went to bed around midnight and could not sleep for constant noise going on. There were seagulls nesting on the building and were constantly making noise and a power washer went off at 4am in the morning. Therefore neither i or my husband could sleep so consequently left at 6am.I tried ringing desk at 4am but no one answered. The cost of the stay was £159.00 for the night which was extremrly expensive for what we had to put up with. Very, very unhappy.
The building style is beautiful (or was) but the housekeeping and food miserable. The grand's idea of a carvery was a container of chicken legs and a container of gammon.£17 per head !!! pudding was chocolate roll slice at first glance, I thought it was black pudding, dry and hard. Custard was made with water and lumpy. Apart from the fact we were both hungry We would not have eaten it. very disapointing.
Exceptional welcome and great service from staff, room was very clean great views, couple of corridors were a bit smelly and windows weren’t the cleanest, but to be expected really with all the seagulls around. Was very pleased with our stay after all bad reviews, would definitely give rooms and reception services a 9/10 , breakfast wasn’t so great, so would book without breakfast next time. Would definitely go again

The staff - managers and the breakfast team make this hotel special. The ambiance and the glorious interior of the public rooms are excellent.
The room - shabby and dated but clean and comfortable.
Average food selection at breakfast. However the staff were amazing. - the lovely lady at the breakfast serving was smiley and thoughtful.
I asked for some alternative milk and she provided it without question.
The hotel is really tired, the furniture is old and worn. Then again, this reflects in the cost of the room which was appropriate.

Checkin was easy. Lobby was functional. I was "upgraded" from a room with no windows to a 4th floor room with a window. Unfortunately the so called upgrade backfired on me as the noise from the resident seagulls and chicks woke me up at 5am with a full dawn chorus! I would opt for an internal room if u want to sleep!
First time staying in the Grand hotel and totally love it. The room was incredible and spacious. The terrance is just perfect for the morning coffee or late afternoon drinks. Car park was having a fee but I felt really save by leaving my car there. Also, the hotel is incredibly close to the beach, and if you are feeling lazy going back up the stairs, there is a tram for your conviniece. The only remark is regarding the breakfast. It was great but it would be better if the chef adds on some pastries. Would recomend it to everyone!
