The resort is amazing, super clean. The buffets are excellent, tons of selections, staffs are very friendly.
The room was spacious and perfect.

Nice property. Probably great for kids. Prices reasonable. Walking distance in Funchal to downtown and the waterfront.

This location was beautiful. Staff amazing! Breakfast buffet the best, I’ve ever had. The lobby and surrounding grounds amazing. Great room! Highly recommend.

Pestana Royal is a very outdated hotel. If you are looking for clean modern look that is not the place for you.
If you are looking for a place with high quality food that is not the right place. Food quality is very poor.
It is a very mediocre place with clean rooms and very mediocre food.

Stayed for a week, we only did bed and breakfast but were given a 2pm gratuitous late check out due to evening flight. The staff were incredibly helpful with car rental, restaurant recommendations and other queries. I'd highly recommend the hotel
