"Modern with traditional japanese flavor"
Was very happy but a couple of concerns. Japanese don't know how to care well for carpet, this hotel included. So don't expect pristine carpets. Came with nice modern kitchen, but was not told we would have to rent silverware and few cooking items. That was $2000 yen extra. Overall nice room layout and great indoor/outdoor public bath (furo).

Numazu Riverside Hotel

100-1 Agetsuchi-cho, Numazu - Map
"NIce hotel, great location between station & port"
Riverside is often quite expensive, i stayed on a discounted rate (thursday night) which was fantastic as it's bigger (room and bath size) than normal hotels in Japan. the included breakfast is very good, a buffet mixing Japanese and western style. Staff are very friendly and efficient, not huge amounts of english spoken. I've included this comment as a heads up, i've seen a lot of criticism of this hotel for lack of english, but given it's in a local non-touristy town in Japan I think it's a strange comment to make, and would encourage any visitor to bring a dictionary and some patience with you!

"Beautiful hotel, incredible experience!"
I spent a night at Hanafubuki and it was one of the most wonderful and unique experiences I've had in any country. It's located on the east coast of Izu, a peninsula southwest of Tokyo with a peaceful, tropical atmosphere. The inn is about 10 minutes on foot from the Izu Kogen station. From the moment I entered the inn's grounds, I felt totally transported - even though it covers a relatively small area, they did a wonderful job making it feel like it's truly a part of the area's natural environment. The service was impeccable, from the welcome cup of tea I received to the absolutely spectacular dinner - one of the best meals I've had anywhere in Japan. The grounds are gorgeous, including a small forest walk where you can smell the sea and get a view of the local mountain, and there's nothing like exploring in a yukata to make you feel like you've completely left the outside world. There's a variety of spectacular indoor and outdoor onsen, all of which are very thoughtfully equipped with an extra cold water pipe (very necessary in the summer!). My Japanese-style room was also extraordinarily comfortable, with a small balcony looking out onto the forest. All I can say is, if you have a chance to stay at Hanafubuki during your time in Japan, I can't recommend it enough, even if it's just for one night. It's truly one of the most special experiences you can have in the country, and I can't wait to come back.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Izu Peninsula hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
