"Good hotel, not so great location."
Very clean, and a hotel that shows its age, but has been modernized. But it is not near anything of much significance. However, it has an airport shuttle. Which you need to prearrange beforehand (especially when you arrive). They run service on demand only, and then only once an hour.
Forget making yourself understood in English! It will barely happen. Even Spanish proved difficult for the staff.
They have a very good free breakfast with eggs, sausages, muffins, cereal, yogurt, cheeses, etc., and the restaurant is open until 10 PM. BUT...if you eat at any other time, you must be a guest at the hotel, and must allow the charge to be put on your hotel bill. The menu has no prices, but a number refers to another sheet that has prices on it. When you are finished you have to sign a receipt of what you ate. No prices, only quantities and descriptions. And you do not get a copy. You have no way of knowing what your total is until you look at your hotel bill, I would advise you to keep track of the items yourself to compare with what you are charged at checkout. By the way, I had no problem with what they charged.
The location is...let's say quiet. The hotel is on a back street behind a busy avenue full of businesses, but not tourist attractions. Auto shops, parking lots, a real estate office, a computer fix-it place, lawyers offices, one small cafe, a beauty shop, etc.
At night the place is absolutely deserted. There is nothing to do. Cable TV is 24 channels, all in Portuguese.
