"Staff was great at the Arena hotel. Close to beach"
Staff was knowledgable and friendly. The front staff was professional and spoke english well. They were very friendly helping us with questions about tours and metro system. The breakfast staff was also very friendly. They didn't speak any english which was an issue. But they tried to help as much as they can. The breakfast was great when it came to the fruit selections. We stayed there twelve days and it hard to keep eating eggs with rolls for twelve days straight. They needed more choices for breakfast. One of my friends didn't eat ham/pork and everything they made had ham or pork in it. I would like some local choices for breakfast instead of all English/American breakfast. I spoke to a supervisor about the breakfast and ask for pancakes. The next day there was pancakes but only one day. He tried. The rooms were cleaned daily. The space of rooms was sufficient. The toilets were extremely hard to flush. Those knobs needs to be replace with something more easy. It need such force to flush it I had to use my feet sometimes. Love the water pressure in the shower, love the soap and bath products. The towels, sheets and bedding was hard and could be a bit softer. The blankets were not good either. They gave discounts on my finally bill for room service. I would stay at this hotel again when I go to RIO because of the staff and location.

The Miramar exceeded my expectations. The hotel is situated right on Copacabana beachfront and in walking distance to the fort. There is an abundance of restaurants very close by, laundries and also shops galore to buy gifts. The evening market is also on your doorstep. The rooms are generous in space with an excellent bathroom and shower. The bed is comfy and the turn in at night - with lovely chocs - a special treat. One area to improve would be some more English TV channels as this very limited and one left with CNN only to watch. The breakfast is extraordinary with such an amazing choice of fresh fruits, juices, pastries, pancakes, omelettes etc. You can really sit down and have a great breakfast. The rooftop pool is nice but more spectacular the views from the top. I went up early one morning to watch the sun rise from here and this truly a special moment. Overall, the Miramar is a tru 5-star experience and highly recommended for business and for those on vacation.

The hotel is showing it's age. Some of the room and bathroom furniture are worth renewing. In 4 stays, this is the first time I requested a room change. Not the problem of the hotel, but the building next to it is very noisy.
However, the staff compensate for every short coming of the infrastructure. Wonderful, helpful and warmth are the thoughts that come to mind. Just Pedro in the front desk has to pick it up, the rest of the staff went out of their way to make my stay better. Congratulations for the awesome service.

We spent an extended holiday weekend with our two kids in Buzios and decided for the Serena because of its location, close to the beach (one block away is the beautiful Geribá beach) and also because we like the "boutique hotel"-flair.
The weekend was beautiful and we had a very good time at the hotel, enjoying the nice layout of the hotel grounds and the relaxing atmosphere. The kids loved the pool, although a rather small one, and the kids corner.
Food at the restaurant was good, the Picanha was excellent; the breakfast buffet was very complete. However, the staff could be a bit more attentive (e.g. when we were sitting by the pool, they never offered pro-actively any service; yet if we asked for it, we always got what we wanted)
The rooms are very nice, however the bath-room is minuscule, way too small.
The hotel offers a transfer to the city's restaurant area at night, which is quite convenient.
Wifi is free and available all over the hotel with good quality.
One negative aspect was the smoking: the hotel is Argentinean owned and there is a large presence of Argentineans in the hotel, which actually adds a nice international flair to the hotel. Yet, they seem to care less about not smoking in public areas and the hotel staff did not bother either. Thus, frequently people sitting by the pool or on the terrace of the restaurant were smoking and it was frequent to find cigarette butts in the garden or in the sitting area by the pool, which was not very nice.
