"Lovely hotel, very spacious and very well clean. "
We had a lovely stay here. the staff were very friendly and efficient. At all time they were very helpful. Great breakfast and a very comfortable room. Only five minutes walk to the centre of the town and lots of interesting eating places nearby.

This is a difficult review to write. Overall, we liked the Riu Chiclana better than this review will sound. The food was very good. The service staff friendly, helpful and charming. The rooms were clean, the pools were beautiful and the beach is incredible. However, there are some downsides. The hotel is an older property and is showing its age. It needs some major repairs and, possibly, some reconstruction. The rooms are small, windowless and claustrophobic. The air conditioning is older and doesn't work very well. Also, this is a resort for people who do not want to do anything but sit in the sun and relax by the water. The hotel is miles from anywhere you might want to visit and there is only one tour operator to speak with if you want to go off property. This tour operator has very limited offerings. The front desk staff is very nice and tries to be helpful but most of the information received about things that were not on the property was wrong. Overall the ClubHotel Riu Chiclana deserves 4 stars and I would give it 4.5 if I could but it isn't perfect.

"Close to beach but not convenient for town centre"
Our main interest in Cadiz was the old part of the town which was some distance away. Although there is a good and reasonably priced bus service, using public transport was not as convenient as being located in the town itself, with access to all the facilities, historic sites and restaurants. A particular nuisance was the fact that restaurants generally didn't open until 8:00 - 8:30 pm, which meant hanging around after our sightseeing and excursions before we could eat and a late night bus journey back to the hotel. Although the beach was close by and the hotel has spa facilities, we didn't particularly want to use these. There is also a railway station within walking distance, which we used to get to Jerez town. However, the rail service on to Jerez airport was too infrequent to suit our flight arrival and departure times, and we therefore hired a car instead, which although we didn't need are car for what we had planned to do,was probably cheaper than using taxis or private transfer.

Had a really nice week exploring Cadiz, apartment we stayed in was at the top of the building, with the roof terrace above us and some days when it was windy the chairs and bins etc kept banging about and several times we had to go up to the top and pick them up, they need to be stored away when its windy. Apartment was nice and clean and we had every thing we needed. Really good location to get around and see all the sight.

One of the world’s oldest cities, its historic heart surrounded by water, Cádiz is remarkably overlooked by foreign visitors. Take a stroll along the promenade, with its gardens and squares, and around the old town, with its narrow Moorish alleyways. Don’t miss the Cathedral, Museo de Cádiz, and Oratorio de San Felipe Neri. Along the promenade are two fine beaches. Cadiz Carnival is Spain’s finest.
