A formerly run down motel being fixed up by new owners. Some peculiarities: the only lights bright enough for reading are over the dresser. Two chairs in corners with no lights. It needs a note to explain how the TV works and what channels it gets; I had to ask the staff, who were quite helpful. No pool, or hot tub, no kitchen, microwaves only in premium rooms. Good for an inexpensive and clean place to sleep with comfortable beds, but not one to hang around during the day. The hotle allows dogs for an additional $19 a night. Its not exactly dog-friendly, but dog tolerant.

This hotel literally sits on the state line so you are in California with Nevada and its gambling across the street. Which is what i prefer when in Vegas. Non gambling hotels so that I dont have to deal with the gambling hall scents and navigation just to get to my room. The property itself is a very large former Embassy Suites and they have retained most of the features such as evening reception, made to order breakfast, etc. Property is in excellent condition overall, and be prepared for a resort fee being tacked on though I'm not sure what constitutes being a resort anymore other than being located in a resort town.
That being said I enjoyed my stay and the surrounding area

South Lake Tahoe treats vacationers to majestic views of the lake’s vivid blue waters and the surrounding snow-capped peaks. Attractions on the California-Nevada border include the popular and immense Heavenly Lake Tahoe ski area and nearby casinos. To the west, summer visitors to Emerald Bay State Park can tour Vikingsholm Castle, built in 1929, and boat to the lake’s only island, Fannette Island.
