"Any closer to the water, you'd be in a houseboat."
Room 232, upper unit, end of property.
We'd just come from 3 nights at DL Bliss campground which was infested with yellow jacket wasps. Arriving to the Lodge was such a luxury finale to our Lake Tahoe experience. So, this positive review might be a bit biased.
Locating the Lodge was a little tricky. Find the CVS pharmacy and Heidi's Pancake House and drive down the parking lot between them to find the front office.
Right on the beach, maybe 70 feet from the water's edge.
Nice roomy deck with glass panels overlooking the lake. Wife loved how she could sit on leather sofa in living room, look out the patio door, and view just the water beyond.
Very short stroll on beach to the pier to rent paddle boards. We got a small discount for mentioning we were staying at the Lodge.
Clean room, very friendly staff at the desk and on the property. Nice condo amenities.
Our teenage son had his own space in upstairs loft. TV's in every room, although we never turned one on.
Live music in early evening on beach on Thursday, nice vocals, ok playlist. Ended early enough for us fogies.
Shallow water for 200 yds out. Chilly at first, nice once immersed.
Bathtub drain a bit slow. Much better when I unscrewed drain stopper cap. Minor.
No A/C. Had a couple of portable floor fans. Bedroom fan was broken but quickly replaced by staff. Minor.
Older property. But if you want new, go to the big casino's down the road. Not us, though. Minor.
We'll be back. Discounts for returnees.

I don't know if the Inn by the Lake was completely booked, or if we given our room location because we booked through Expedia, but we were in the building on the east side. The parking was great, but the lot was shared with a restaurant right next door and below our balcony. Restaurant staff took their breaks in the back, below our room. Being on the second floor was not too bad, but for the occasional conversations.
The walk along the south shore of the lake was easy and pretty accessible, as were some other restaurants and shops. Owing to the location of our room the pool, spa, and workout room were a little ways away, but not an overly long trek.

When we arrived at 11pm after driving for 8 hours, our room wasn't clean. After our long day of travel we were disappointed to say the least. However, the hotel staff was AMAZING and took great care of us. They got our room ready within 30 min and the rest of our stay was great! The beds are so comfortable, and the beer garden with live music is a great way to relax and unwind. I did miss having a bathtub and there are no special upgrades in the rooms, however I would definitely stay there again.

We spent one night here after flying into Reno's airport and prior to meeting our daughter and her partner for 5 days backpacking on the nearby Pacific Crest Trail. Hotel price was reasonable, room was comfortable and dinner in Latin restaurant was quite good. Only down side is smoking allowed in the casinos - yuck!! Room is non-smoking so that was fine.

Loved the Spacious Room which was very clean other then the A/C Vent which was covered in Dust. This dust made me feel like I was breathing in all this dust. "Dirty" The hotel when we checked in did not provide us with a map of where things were located at. We had to go from one end of the hotel to the other to find what we were looking for. The Room was very comfortable with a Bath Tub & separate Shower.

South Lake Tahoe treats vacationers to majestic views of the lake’s vivid blue waters and the surrounding snow-capped peaks. Attractions on the California-Nevada border include the popular and immense Heavenly Lake Tahoe ski area and nearby casinos. To the west, summer visitors to Emerald Bay State Park can tour Vikingsholm Castle, built in 1929, and boat to the lake’s only island, Fannette Island.
