"the Oak Hotel."
If you need to stop on South Brent you should choose the Oak hotel. A B&B would be cheaper but the Oak has a cheery bar with good real ales. Room was clean and nice, with a good en-suit. Nothing wrong with it!

"Nice hotel Near to plenty of walks"
It was very convenient for us to visit family. The hotel was peaceful and a very welcome place to return to after a busy day. We liked the facilities and enjoyed our stroll around the lake. We particularly enjoyed the late breakfast times. The staff went out of their way to assure us they would fit us in for an evening meal if we needed one. They moved us to another room when we asked for one with just a shower with no problem.

"Super place to stay"
This was my first trip to a B&B rather than a hotel. I was made very welcome by Dave and Donna, and even the dog was friendly. As I was canoeing the River Dart for the weekend with the Open Canoe Association, this was an excellent location smack between the river and a bunkhouse down the A38 where the majority of the group were staying. Behind a locked gate well onto the farm away from the main drag made it a great place to park up had I still had my canoe on the roof rack (as it turned out I left it on a mate's van elsewhere). I found it a bit difficult to find the place in the dark. While the Expedia map is in roughly the right area it's the wrong end of a single-track unmetalled road with a huge puddle if you try to follow the road. Cue some serious reversing practice! I ended up parking up where I could find a signal to Google the B&B's own website where there were find accurate instructions to find the place - well worth printing these out in advance. That got me 90% of the way, but I had to call Dave for instructions on how to get past the cows - honk one's horn - it was certainly the full-on rural experience!

Tony is the perfect host - lovely welcoming email before we left home with excellent directions and hints for places to eat in the evenings. A warm welcome and cream tea on arrival. Full cooked breakfast using local produce each day - coffee just the best. Garfield House is a charming old farmhouse set in beautiful grounds It is comfortable, warm and clean. In close proximity to the moor it is Ideal for a casual, relaxed break. We would definately return.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
