Large room with good facilities. Good location. I had a room at the back of the hotel. The room looked out on what looks like a future development site. Not much to see but on the flip side very quiet at night.
I want to mention Emma who was on reception when I arrived. Very friendly and efficient. I made a complaint as the room originally allocated was not suitable. She fully understood the issue and resolved the problem without any fuss even arranging for my luggage to be moved to the new room while I was out at dinner. Outstanding service
Great hotel for football fans, right across the road from St James. Very central and easy walk to key attractions.
Overall though an average hotel. Noisy as so close to the city centre, bed not great, no air conditioning (even noisier with windows open) and just lacked a little care eg soap dispenser in shower fell off, hard to have a shower without soaking the bathroom.
We booked fairly late so price paid was very high for the standard, but review not impacted by this.
Hotel is in a good location and is well serviced by local bars and restraunts. We were given an accessible room (not at our request) where the bathroom was a wet room with an adapted shower that went 4ft high, when your 6ft its not ideal. Other then that all was ok.
Great location within 15 min walking distance of train and bus station. The Junior suite was perfect for us - king size bed plus a comfortable sofa bed. I loved the fact that the sofa bed area was separated from main bedroom by a sliding door for privacy. Room equipped with microwave, small hob, fridge, kettle & toaster and enough cutlery, crockery etc for 3 people.
Situated on the edge of Chinatown theres lots of Asian dining options - Japanese, Thai, Cantonese etc. A huge selection of bars to choose from in the area.
Great location for shopping too as it’s only a short walk to Eldon Square shopping mall inc Fenwicks, John Lewis, Sephora etc and Grainger market.
If you’re a football fan the hotel is across the road from St James Park. The hotel bar caters for fans too - matches are screened on every wall - even at breakfast time.
We would definitely stay again.
