"Cheap looking hotel, good location, okay price"
My room was at the top of the stairs and I had a LOT of luggage which was a real pain to get up and down. The TV and light in the bathroom didn't work. It was a little bit noisy because of the bar downstairs and being on the main clubbing street.

"Rooms nicer than lobby"
The room was 5-star. The lobby, lifts, stairs and common areas need an upgrade. Staff was very helpful and went above & beyond!

"Central location and a historic building."
I was warmly welcomed by friendly staff and my cell room on the 4 th floor was ready even though I was early. Although the hotel is an old prison the decor and feel is very modern. Great place to stay!

"Superb old-world hotel"
I recently stayed at the Old Bank and Old Parsonage, both in Oxford, and both owned by the same people, and I am borrowing some sentences here from my Old Bank review. The Parsonage is an almost incredible place - lovely seventeenth century architecture, but fully redesigned in 2014 for comfort and convenience. Super helpful staff. One great touch is a fine library for sitting around and relaxing. Tip - the excellent English breakfast is more expensive than other items, but includes a very wide range of extra choices. Great value. Do eat on the patio. One thing you might not realize before you walk through the door is that the hotel has a cosmic collection of twentieth century and contemporary British art scattered all around, certainly of top class museum quality. The same is also true of the Old Bank, which is owned by the same people. If you took all the art in the two hotels and combined them under one specialized exhibition space you would have a major national attraction – and there they are, gazing down at you while you are eating breakfast! My one complaint is that they don’t have a printed guide of some kind to these paintings. I loved it.

"Very pleasant Inn - but miles from Witney!"
If an Inn experience near to Oxford is desired then this fits the bill. It is a well run, quiet, clean and comfortable establishment and serves good food. However the address is shown as Witney which may in some obscure way be true but in reality it is miles away from the town of Witney and is far closer to Oxford.

"Wonderful place for a no frills stay in Oxford. "
I stayed here while attending a conference at the University. My room was clean and I had a bathroom in my room , which is always nice. The breakfast in the morning was also a nice touch (A variety of breakfast cereals, granola, yogurt, cold meat, cheeses, fruit salad, toast, and the like). What made this stay really awesome was the staff. The Manager Sean was beyond friendly and so helpful. Remember, this is a guest house, not a hotel. So there is not 24 hour front desk, but if you know that going into it (don't just think you can drop in at 1 AM and get a room) you will be fine. Even if you cannot make the standard window for check in (i did not) just call ahead and let Sean know what you need. He will get you taken care of.

"Small homey hotel could do with fire alarm repair"
Arrived 11 am very sleep deprived from prior activities. Was able to leave my bags, then check in promptly at 2 pm and nap easily. Owner Pete was very nice. Room was adequate. Floor had irregular surface occasional depressions under the carpet. No light at desk. Seemed clean. I would stay here again if they improved/replaced the fire alarm system. Awakened at 12:15 AM by fire alarm, had to evacuate building for 20 min. Seemed as if no hotel staff actually slept on premises-had to wait for someone to drive from another part of town to shut off the false alarm. I was told the alarm had gone off once or twice earlier in day. About 1 am, at a time when I was deeply asleep again, alarm went off briefly 2 more times.
