Would recommend the Cavalier Inn if you're visiting UVA or the John Paul Jones Arena. It is within easy walking distance of the UVA main campus, bookstore, the Corner, and John Paul Jones Arena. The breakfast was also surprisingly good and the price is very reasonable. The rooms could definitely stand a renovation, but they are passable in exchange for location convenience and reasonable price.

"Good and Bad"
Nice hotel, great location and wonderful staff. The big downside is the noise. Luckily I was there on a slow night... but I could hear everyone else in the hotel. If anyone was in the hallway it was like they were in my room, and I could hear every footstep and movement of the people in the room above me.
There were also no nightside tables next to the bed... which I really hate. Overall it's super clean and friendly!

"Quiet and convenient to shopping/dining"
This was a great change from the typical chain hotels. The decor matches the name with more of a country theme. Our room and the common areas were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was much better than expected with plenty of seating. The best part was having a quiet AC/heating unit that didn't wake you up every time it kicked on. The location was also within easy driving distance to shopping and restaurants. We will definitely stay here again when in the area and have already recommended the English Inn to others.
