The staff was very friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was very, very good with lots of choices. The room was clean and the bathroom had been updated. My only complaint, if you can call it that, is that the decor in the room was old and stale and needs to be updated to the standards of the bath.

You could not book a more central hotel than the Mercure City Centre.
You walk straight out on to one of the main streets for Shopping and Restaurants
and it is close to most of the central business offices as well, 5-10 minute walks
Facilities are pretty standard for a Mercure and the breakfast was excellent

This hotel provides all the amenities deserving its 5 star rating. The food is of excellent quality and variety. Staff (both the hotel and the restaurant) is friendly and very helpful. The rooms may be slightly dated, but well kept and clean. The hotel grounds are beautiful, especially in their gorgeous fall colors. Nightly live music in the bar is pleasant and entertaining. The thermal pools and adjacent rest areas provide for complete relaxation.

Good train service for visitors without cars.
It was hot when I was there, and the air conditioning in my room was excellent and much appreciated.
My room rate included buffet dinner, with a number of Hungarian items available, which I enjoyed a lot. Beverages (other than water) weren't included; there were plenty of waiters to bring me beer promptly, and the price was very reasonable.
There are (amplified) street musicians performing out on the promenade, and evening bar performers in the hotel itself, so light sleepers like me will use earplugs and be OK.
