Very nice hotel in the centre of the city - close to the restaurant area by the old port. Very convenient.
would recommend this hotel. Only thing to be aware of is that the bed and couch is very low (Japanese style) - a bit
hard on old bodies.

We stayed three nights at this hotel and the view from the room was fantastic. The hotel has an Onsen (hot spring) on site - if you go at night there a deer and a fox sculpture on the opposite bank are lit up (a bit like Christmas decorations) The onsen is sex segregrated and you go in naked (as with all the onsens we experienced in Japan).
The restaurant food was very good but you had to book in advance.
The main problem with this hotel is that it is quite remote. There is a shop on site but nowhere to eat or get a drink for a lot of the day. There is a shuttle bus which meets some of the trains in Onuma and you can hire bikes, but it was difficult to be out in the evening if you did not have your own transport. We found we got bitten (by insects) walking near the hotel.

"quiet hotel in a quiet location. 4 stops on tram,"
Quiet very reasonable hotel, 4 stops from JR on tram route 2. Walkable to ropeway, and some churches and 10 mins walk red brick houses for shopping and eating. A little too far for walking to Fish Market, which is beside JR, especially with luggage. But can be pleasant walk if weather is good, shopping at red brick and food joints, ending with Fish Market. View from Ropeway is excellent, must be early to catch sunset among hundreds of photo bugs, please stay for night view which is world class, but bring warm clothes. Hotel staff pleasant, rooms bigger than average, free coffee and jelly.... For the price, its reasonable.

The hotel was great for onsen or to climb up Mt Asashidate. While the hotel room does not have Aircon, they provided fans. Anyway the hotel is 800m above sea level, it's cooling at night. We took the half board package which came with an amazing teppanyaki dinner. The breakfast selection was spoilt for choices as they offered selection from the locate produce. There are option for public and private hot spring. Will definitely come back again for a longer relaxing stay.
