This resort is quite a distance from San Pedro, so you need to know that it will take a golf cart or water taxi to eat somewhere besides the hotel restaurant (which was very good), but as long as you know what you are getting into, you will be pleased! I can't say enough good about the hotel, and especially the staff! They were amazing! I just want to give a shout out to Joshua, Ida, Victor, Christian, Doughy, and Jose for making our trip amazing! Thank you!

We stayed for three days and it was magical! The whole staff is commited to making sure your stay is the perfect vacation experience. Elmer was so kind and wonderful to help us arrange it shuttle from Belize City to the resort. He also helped us to arrange our day trip to Tikal and it was seamless! The food was incredible! If you can stay here, do it!!! The jungle was peaceful and almost surreal!

The resort is beautiful, and has a great staff.
The room is great. I don't usually sleep well the first night in a new place, but I did at Ka'ana.
Ka'ana is a little further from San Ignacio than it appears on the maps on Expedia, so you can't really walk to town. However, they will provide a shuttle during the day, or you can get a cab for $10. to walk into town.
The restaurant and bar are good, but the menu doesn't change much from night to night. The vegetables from the organic garden were excellent.

My husband and I were blown away by the view when we arrived at Gaia. What a gorgeous spot!
Great food, great staff, we wish we had planned on an extra night here as we only stayed two nights. We loved hiking to Big Rock and we followed the river back to the lodge which was challenging but a great adventure. Swimming at the base of the falls was lovely!
We biked up to Blancaneaux (owned by Francis Ford Coppola) and had a drink which was also a fun little adventure.
Very remote and very beautiful!

Wonderful area, very relaxing and hotel staff was amazing! Wonderful people and they know how to treat their guests. More intimate resort versus a rowdy crowd or "party" resort. Great for a couple get away!

We went to Almond Beach Resort for our honeymoon this April. The staff are super amazing, friendly and very accommodating but the hotel amenities are lacking a little when it comes to water sports. The room was super clean and the cleaning staff made us new animals every day. We loved the shower and the bed is comfortable. The fact that our room opened right out to the beach made it that much better.

"The resort itself is nice but is in need of repair"
The resort itself is nice and the staff is exceptionally friendly and always willing to assist.
- There is only one pool and that is on the beach (Atlantic) side. There are two smaller sized (kiddie sized) pools but they are deep enough and were likely hot tubs at one point in time and don't appear to be functional any longer.
- The pool tiles are falling apart and are in need of repair.
- The beach front was full of seaweed the the first few days but the crew cleaned it up (no fault of the resort).
- Bathroom in the room was awkward and had no place to hang towels or sink area. The shower pressure was strong but the quarter glass wall to keep the water in the shower stall was rather useless as the floor was drenched after your shower.
- Full refrigerator was nice to have and AC units in each room were good (as well as numerous fans).
- Food was OK -- nothing too special.
- Sand fleas (on the beach -- again not really a fault of the resort).
The problem is that the resort is rather far from everything. Placencia is only 30 minutes away but the free shuttle only runs three times a day (morning, midday, and night). So if you want to just chill on the beach it's a great place to stay and quiet.
