"Midas Belize"
Relaxing hotel. Short walk to town and the market. We stayed in one of the casitas. The room was clean and quiet. We booked the ATM Cave tour through the front desk. They handled everything. Breakfast was pre-ordered the night before the tour so we had time to eat and still make the pick up time for the cave tour. I highly recommend this tour. Midas does not serve dinner, so you get to explore San Ignacio for dinner. There are local eateries nearby. When we arrived there was some confusion about the number of beds in our reservation through expedia. The staff physically moved beds in order to accommodate our needs.

"This is a family run hotel and it is spotless. "
This is our second time staying at Rumors Resort Hotel. It will not be our last. Such a pleasure to come back here as the entire staff make you feel like you are coming home. The hotel has finished their pool since our last trip and it is spectacular, unfortunately we had bad weather while there for the two nights so we never got the chance to use it but it looks great for adults and kids. Our room was a single for the two of us and very private, clean as a whistle very adequate. The A/C was very effective and the cable TV had many many stations. There was bottled water supplied and replentished daily. The restaurant and bar are right off the lobby and we enjoyed two breakfasts and one dinner. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. My wife asked for poached eggs for breakfast even though they were not on the menu and voila - they said no problem and she received exactly what she asked for done perfectly. By the way the prices for their food and beverages is very reasonable! We intend to return to San Ignacio in January with another couple and will be booking our stay at Rumors again. We highly recommend this hotel/resort to anyone who needs accommodation while in the area of San Ignacio. John & Ellen A.

"Better than the Ritz."
This was a birthday trip for me and my best friend - it was amazing! The owner and staff personally welcomed us in the lobby when we were checking in. Our room wasn't a room at all...it's an independent, stand alone beautiful bungalow and it's big enough to live there! We stayed in number 5, with a totally private outdoor shower and lounge chairs. I highly recommend this unit because listening to the jungle at night, while taking an open shower, was a highlight and unlike anything else. The pool is fantastic, foot steps away, and includes a phone connected directly to an employee who will assist you with anything. Any food you order can be delivered free anywhere on the property. The food is fabulous and I've stayed in 5 star accommodations around the world. The breakfast was out-of-this-world!! The indoor/outdoor restaurant is easy-breezy. We wanted to go to town and shop, so the front desk arranged for one of the employees (who we later found out was leaving work that day and offered) to take us. He drove us around and accompanied us! That is the level of service I found in every aspect of this resort. Nightly, there was a turndown service and a note to "look in the fridge". There we found small desserts every night that the chef had prepared for us - on a silver platter. What a surprise and treat! This is typical of the feeling this place gives you...pure pampering all the time. Book It! Better than my Ritz-Carleton

"Secluded ecolodge in the middle of the forest"
I had high expectations from the phenomenal reviews here and Gaia exceeded all of them. It's the perfect place to go if you're looking to unplug, get a little adventure, experience the real Belize, but not "sacrifice" on all the comforts and luxuries you want out of a vacation. "Glamping" comes to mind. The negative reviews on this site are few are far between, but if you're anything like me, have a tendency to perseverate on them. After having spent 5 nights at Gaia, I wanted to address them. They have only 1 menu, but after 5 nights there were still several meals that my husband and I didn't get to try. Because it's a secluded location, you'll end up eating all your meals on site. But I found the prices to be very reasonable. Granted I live in Manhattan, but there's no way I could have that quality of dining experience and fresh taste for those kinds of prices back home. Yes, it's a 2.5 hr bumpy car ride from the airport. But as long as you're expecting it, it's nothing. Plus, you get to see the country, so think of it as part of the experience. And yes, there is only wifi in the main lodge, no TVs on site. But if you traveled all the way out to the Belizean jungle and want to Netflix in your hotel room all day, you probably need to rethink your vacationing methods. The wifi in the lodge is plenty fast to check emails, text, all the basics to stay connected with the world back home. You'll definitely want to do some excursions if staying for more than a couple nights

"Totally sufficient. "
We stayed for three nights. We were gone all day long so basically only slept there. But it was a good clean budget friendly place to stay. Right in the middle of town, we felt safe leaving our packs in the room when we went exploring. And was close to everything. Only thing was the shower water poured out everywhere due to poor design, but when I asked they provided plenty of towels to mop things up. Great deal for the price.

"Lovely setting in the jungle"
The Tut family works hard make your stay at Crystal Paradise wonderful. The food is excellent, and they will accommodate your dietary needs. The setting is beautiful. Any excursion you want can be arranged there, and the driver is likely to be a family member, so you'll be well-taken care of. I will definitely go back.

"Beautiful, well designed jungle resort."
We really enjoyed our stay at Mystic River Resort. The rooms are excellent, plenty of space, high ceilings and fans really help keep off the heat. The paths between buildings are beautifully landscaped, and I'm sure more to come as time passes. The staff is friendly and helpful, aside from a couple issues. One, the cleaning staff left one of our cabin's door open when they were done making our friend uncomfortable. Now, they're remote enough, I really don't think it was an issue, but still. The Other issue was somewhat larger, the gentleman at the front desk said he would make reservations for us for our next and last night at the Belize Zoo. He said we were all set, when we got there the zoo wasn't even open because of a holiday. A little honesty "oops I forgot, I'll do it now" would have saved us a bit of trouble, but we managed. The food is ok, though like most jungle lodges it is quite overpriced, in fairness, they do need to staff and supply an entire kitchen for a few guests, it can't be easy! Being offseason, and also so soon after the hurricane, they were still cleaning up (looked beautiful!), but their walking trails currently consist of a road and a trail in disrepair, the trails could use some more work in my personal opinion, but maybe few people really want to walk off on trails in the jungle. Overall our experience was good, and the resort is only a half dozen years old, I'm sure it will just get better and better too.

San Ignacio is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in San Ignacio, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your San Ignacio hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
