"Birthday Celebration for my girlfriend"
Fabulous location and facilities. Great location for a celebratory weekend - stylish decor, beautiful grounds and small arboretum, spa and pool, excellent food and friendly, efficient staff. It was busy weekend with a Murder Mystery group booking and a wedding but that did not detract. The only downside (especially given the high occupancy rate) was that the single guest lift was out of order!

"Amazing little find"
After driving for hours and unable to find a place to stay that was either affordable or had rooms available I stumbled across this place. It'd only opened a few months ago. It was brand new, clean, comfortable and everything you could want. I stayed in a suite which had a really good bed and sofa, wall heater, tea and coffee facilities and a great bathroom with shower. My only slight niggle was that the TV reception wasn't great. I hope that's being looked into and the bath was rather deep, so awkward to get out of... I'm six foot and had trouble. There was also free WiFi. It's just across the service from from the Spar at the EuroGarage so there is a 24 hour shop on site, with Greggs, Subway and a coffee outlet open during the day. I had difficulty checking in and out as it's done at the Spar, and the staff haven't really had many guests, with it being so new.

Upgraded to resort from coldra hotel. Undfortunatey, we were allocated a twin room instead of queen double we originally asked for. No tables available at buffet restaurant so ate in minstrels bar. Nice food but our final bill came with service charges.

"Nice hotel for a visit to the region"
The hotel is based around an old manor house and appears to host a fair number of events as well. Being old, the heating is a bit tricky and easy to overheat. We stayed in a lovely room in a newer part of the hotel. It was down a bunch of corridors and up and down a number of steps. I'm sure had we asked we would have had help with our luggage. The room was adequately large for a sisters trip - two comfortable twin beds, a desk, a kettle, coffee tea and biscuits. The wifi was pretty strong given how far we were from the reception area and we had a nice view over the back garden. The hotel backs onto a canal and canal path that you can take in either direction - it's about an hour walk to Stroud. Not all hotel rates include breakfast - I recommend you add the breakfast option since you're not really close to anything else. And if you don't like driving at night, think about the breakfast and dinner package - the restaurant is very good, not too expensive and the menu is varied. Service is excellent. My only complaint has to do with my own allergies - I did not do well with the cleaning products they used - when I complained they left some windows open and tried to air out the room but my eyes still stung. I recommended they find some less harsh products. Also, as an American, I'm used to more robust plumbing. It's nice that you can find better TP in England now, but the plumbing did not seem fully up to the task. A couple of items broke and were fixed promptly.

Clearwell is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Clearwell, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Clearwell hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
