Super convenient

The hotel was, without doubt, very pretty & well-maintained. We booked this hotel specifically for the yoga offered (none was available during our 6 days there, with no offers made to help us find yoga in town or anywhere). I had a a 2 bedroom suite (for 2 people) and when we had a local Costa Rican friend of ours visit with us, They monitored and harassed us constantly about it. We were not drinking or loud. We played cards in our suite when it was raining outside and allowed our friend to use our shower in between activities. They wound up charging me more for this. I have lived on 3 continents and traveled the world extensively and I’ve never experienced such poor hospitality It was embarrassing how rude they were to our friend. It actually spoiled our trip and stay there. In addition, little things like having to ask - repeatedly- for our room coffee pods to be replenished. So, while this property is beautiful they have a lot to learn about how to take care of guests. I did speak with the manager in his private office about this and he did nothing to make the situation better. This hotel had no vibe and bad customer service. I hope they can learn from this because it’s a real shame, it’s a lovely property. As it is currently. I would not stay there again and would not recommend it.

Umami was such a great experience. My wife and I stayed for 5 days and 4 nights. The staff was amazing and very helpful, The breakfast was excellent. The room and property was very clean and very well designed. We really enjoyed ourselves and had a great time. 10/10 and 5 stars!!

Stayed at this hotel from June 27-July 4th for my honeymoon and it was easily the worst hotel I’ve ever been to. Villa 3 was absolutely disgusting. Immediately upon entrance to the villa, the lock (main outdoor) completely came apart… this was frustrating but we figured it’s ok we’d go talk to reception. My wife went to then take a shower and the shower head fell.. thankfully it missed her head. I became frustrated, complained to reception and then they sent someone to come fix it. I thought ok cool hopefully no more issues. The same night (first night), we found out the downstairs bathroom was didn’t flush… it was our first time using the bathroom and it just didn’t flush… could only report the issue to reception in the morning as the villa doesn’t have a phone and reception is across the street. I complained to reception in the morning (second day), they came and fixed. I thought this would be the end of it but nope; the same night both the downstairs bathroom got clogged and so did the upstairs one… 10 minutes later we had a power surge in the villa too. Considering there’s no phone, and that were isolated in a villa (across the street), this was quite alarming and I’ve never experienced this anywhere I’ve stayed. We then decided to pack up and book a flight back the next morning. Reception did not apologize for any of the issues and the hotel refused a refund for the unused nights. DO NOT COME HERE - STAY AWAY.

Here’s a polished review you can post: We had an amazing stay at Hotel Aguas Claras in Costa Rica. The food was absolutely delicious, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the location was perfect. The beach nearby was beautiful, peaceful, and great for relaxing. Everything about the experience felt special and authentic. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Caribbean side of Costa Rica!

Wonderful site in the midst of the jungle at seafront. Beautiful rooms, comfortable beds, exciting experience. Nice beach, but not well maintained, maybe because of the season? (beginning of June). Beautiful restaurant with friendly staff and very good meals.

The breakfast and staff were amazing. The people who worked there were super helpful, kind and thoughtful. The glamping was a once in a lifetime experience with all the night time sounds and showering outside in the jungle at night. The fireflies were magical and there were tucans just hanging out in the trees outside our place. We did not have a lot of insects inside but they do get in through small holes in the glamping tent and the screen door had holes and was broken when we arrived. They did eventually come to "fix it" which meant spraying something on the tracks so we could close the door. The outside area had a small private pool in our Hemmingway tent which we used once and it was clean but unheated and felt fresh after being hot from the day. Two people died in the ocean while we were visiting in July and the waves at the beaches nearby were huge and scary. I do not reccomend going in the ocean and we are lifelong ocean swimmers. I thought they could have done more to mitigate the insect problem while guests were eating. It was hard ot enjoy because we spent the whole time swatting insects off our food. Maybe screen in the breakfast area so people can relax while eating. The coffee was amazing and fresh fruit has no comparison.
