"Our Stay at Christmas"
All in all the hotel was clean and the staff was excellent. I have to be fair, and I would venture to guess that most people don't stay there for a period of 2 weeks, like we did. Having said that, the comfort of the room for a 2 week stay was disappointing. I would have liked there to be a separate wardrobe for our clothes (the room size could have accommodated one), but instead, both my husband's and my clothes had to be put in the only place afforded us and that covered up the mirror that should have been used as a dressing table. (Not enough counter space in the bathroom to be used.) So, I had to remove our clothes every time I wanted to put make up on (every day) or blow dry my hair. That was pretty inconvenient. However, we chose the hotel because of it's location (quite central to all of our family) and we had stayed there one time before, but it was only for one night. For one or two nights, it's ok, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who was staying for any length of time.

"Home away from home."
This was our first trip to England. We booked this hotel because it was small and had the English charm and characteristics that we were looking for. Due to a flight delay we were late checking in but when we arrived the staff were happy to see us and welcomed us as if we were family. Any questions we had concerning things we wanted to see or transportation were checked out for us and we were given instructions on how to get where we wanted to go (even hand drawn maps). We were always greeted with smiles and asked how our night sleep was. A table was always set for us at breakfast, which was delicious and the tea was piping hot. In the evening we went for dinner and the meals were gourmet quality. We always had a chat at the bar with the owners and staff and became very friendly with them. They loved to hear how our day of sightseeing went. This is a quaint hotel with modern rooms yet old world charm and decor.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
