Very run down

While we didn't think this would be like a room at the Holiday Inn, we weren't prepared for the cute little room we got. The rooms are what used to be a RR station and have been upfitted with enough modern conveniences that you won't be disappointed - surprised, but not disappointed. Our room (and I assume the others are like this) was filled with gadgets, devices, and appliances that were vintage for the time the RR was operating and stopped there (think early 1900's). It was fun to try and figure out what these items were used for back in the day. They have WiFi, a refrigerator, a stove, and a microwave so you're not back in the 1900's yourself. It's an interesting mix of eclectic, nostalgic, and quaint. Very nice!

Terrible experience. I tried to call the front desk several times the afternoon of our stay, as we were going to arrive late in the evening. The first time the phone kept ringing. No one answered. The second time the person who answered put me on hold without asking. I was on hold for several minutes with loud background music and an automated message that kept repeating about being on hold and that someone would be helping me soon. This happened over and over again. The phone would ring and the person would again put me on hold without asking if it's okay to do so. After several minutes, I hung up and called again. Same thing. On hold for several minutes, being put on hold again and again and again. Later that evening I called again. After being put on hold several times someone finally picked up and acknowledged our late arrival between 8:30pm and 10:30pm. When we checked in we were told the free breakfast would be simple. A breakfast burrito to heat up in the microwave. When we got in the room the fridge wouldn't shut completely and the freezer part was frozen (needed to bd defrosted). The microwave was dirty inside. One of the lights in the bathroom didn't work. The toilet didn't work. Water was shut off. And once turned on, didn't completely fill up. Popcorn ceilings. Outdated 80s decor. Phone not working. Chris at the front desk said people in line take priority over phone calls. Worst hotel experience. We should receive a refund.

The stay was fantastic very memorable. The cabins are looking into the water and woods. We stayed in Cabin Dunes two + a dog and it was more than enough space. If you have a big family the bigger cabin might be better. Very pet friendly + guess are all aware of their pets. Would recommend if you are staying in Coos bay.

Based on previous ratings I expected more, but it wasn't the case. Place was outdated and could use more cleaning. Ice Maker only one and far from our room. Had to use stairs to room. Never found an elevator. Room had a smell as if it was old and could use a deep clean. Carpets need to be replaced as they felt like you had to wear shoes all the time.

Very clean. Good amenities. Friendly and helpful staff.

Amazing experience building friendships and meaningful conversations. It was everything I was hoping for.
