"Too bad wrongly stayed one night"
I can see myself walking in the woods and gardens for many days. The reception was so warm, the room lovely with a teddy bear on the bed, bathroom amenities superb, room setting wonderful. Food and drinks in restaurant amazing. Can't say thank you enough for a delightful evening.

Macdonald Cardrona Hotel, Golf & Spa

Cardrona, Peebles near Edinburgh, Peebles - Map
Visited for a two night break and we were generally pleased with both the location and quality of the hotel. However, because of the limited dining capacity of the hotel and lack of nearby alternatives it would be useful if half board was a featured package on offer (rather than dinner as an add-on). We booked bed and breakfast, intending to make a dinner reservation when we arrived, but upon arrival in mid afternoon the earliest dinner time on offer was 21:00. Although we made it clear that we wanted to eat earlier, the staff did not point out to us that there was a separate and adequate bar menu which would have allowed us to eat at around our preferred time of 19:00 (we only discovered this ourselves the next day).

"Charming country hotel"
Very pretty country hotel in the beautiful town of Kelso, overlooking the river Tweed. Rather faded elegance, but that is part of its charm. Friendly, helpful staff, good food and a very comfortable bed.

"Tired"room abd bathroom could have been cleaner. Did have good sleep however. Biggest area for improvement was staffing receptions n and information- arrived, parked car in tiny car park then entered hotel, no one at reception, eventually female came but handed me room key then carried on getting drinks for customers. Thankfully another lady then showed me to my room. In the morning i had to leave early and no one again to be seen, front door was locked etc......just felt staff could have explained layout, and that if i was leaving early etc that front door would be locked! PS back door also had keypad for getting the n and no I ne say d the code for that door

"Quaint and dellightful"
Glad we upgraded to the En-suite suite. Best bed I've ever had the pleasure of staying over on. Really nice large room for my wife and child. Room overlooked gardens both sides and had plenty or space and light. a little road noise, but could cope well. Breakfast whilst "continental included", was great, and all you really need! Good location for Gala and the surrounding Borders regions. We would definitely stay again. That said, we had a slightly stilted welcome when we first turned up and the room we'd booked was certainly not worth the price reserved at (note we upgraded and it was perfect!). the house itself is slightly overgrown with pots and plants, but added to the charm (if that's what you want). Some parts of the house were in a sate of disrepair and need attention sooner rather than later I'd suggest. also a good vacuum of all the cobwebs would be nice.

"Great But Ensure Breakfast Included"
Really enjoyed our stay except for no breakfast included for which we blame Expedia. Lovely hotel, excellent meals and carful attentive staff. We would give it 99%. Website says complementary breakfast and later on page free breakfast but hotel said rate from Expedia was no breakfast. So paid for 2 nights stay we thought B&B and had to pay extra £52 for our breakfast- a higher cost than if included in pre-booked room rate Hotel experience was excellent but wary of Expedia now!

Scottish Borders is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Scottish Borders, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Scottish Borders hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
