The staff were great & the room was what we paid for but we were not accustomed to sleeping on floor.

Takanoya is a wonderful traditional ryukan style onsen. I highly recommend it. The rooms are clean and well kept, the onsen is hot and private, and the proprietor is thoughtful and generous.

Room was spotless. Staff went above and beyond. Breakfast and dinner was delicious. The onsen was beautiful.

This was a great place to stay for a short stay. The bed was very comfy.

We tried to cancel the reservation with all or some refund due to death of a family member just a few days before our check-in day. We provided everything we have including death certificate but the facility insisted the whole prepaid fees in full are not refundable. We understand the hotel's policy but rather than show their condolences in any degrees, the hotel letting us not just suffer for lost of life and also financially lost. The hotel has lost their reputation on one of the most important value that a service business should provide to us - hospitality.

Staff was wonderful! So many food options in the building and surrounding area. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. It was a short walk to the fish market area. Very cool place. The water shuttle that takes you to different areas of Niigata picks up right there too. Location is prime for Niigata
