We stayed at this hotel for 2 weekend nights on a bed and breakfast basis. The hotel is located adjacent to the Reading football stadium with excellent parking facilities and next to the park and ride facility into Reading. We stayed at the hotel during a home match and the hotel is so well insulated that we did not have any disturbance from the match.
The rooms are modern, clean, large and well appointed with free Wi-Fi. There is a fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. The bathroom had both a shower and bath. There is air con in the rooms so you can always get the room to your preferred temperature.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
The breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of both hot and cold food. The breakfast service was very well organised. The management had obviously put a lot of effort in to getting it right. Toast was delivered to our table so you are not queuing at one of those awful rotary toaster things. Fresh coffee delivered to your table in a flask so you don't have to try and find a member of staff for a refill. Food regularly refreshed to ensure that it is freshly cooked, fried eggs with soft yokes. You can even order special breakfast items like eggs benedict, scrambled egg with smoked salmon and bagels filled with smoked salmon and cream cheese at no extra cost. The delivery of these special order items was very quick.
We could not find fault with any aspect of our stay and will definitely stay here again.

Very easy check in, staff were very good, helpful and upgraded our room on check in.
Unfortunately we couldn’t use the bath in the room as we couldn’t get in it. Manager was fantastic and as we didn’t want to change rooms after a busy day in reading, he made sure our stay was made very enjoyable and we would recommend this hotel.
If you are not happy then they go above and beyond to sort out any issues. A very good hotel, with excellent staff.

Just a brief overnighter and very satisfactory. Room was great and kingsize bed very comfortable and good bathroom with excellent shower. Meal options were not great but the location was within easy walking diustance of a wide varuiety of excellent meal optiions. ('Crocodiles' in particular was great!) Disadvantage was having to park the car in a city carpark a relatively short walk away. Very pleasent stay.

Brilliant. Stayed here while my husband was in Royal Berks Hospital for a shoulder replacement . Surgery went well but due to complications with his other health issues, my expected 3 day stay became 11. I stayed in apartment 502, on the fifth floor [de luxe studio]. So quiet, great view towards the abbey, Forbury Gardens, the Shard & 5 minutes to the Oracle shopping centre. 15 minutes walk to the hospital, far quicker than using taxis or buses with the horrendous traffic, 10 minute walk to railway station.
The apartment was my oasis a the end of many stressful hours at the hospital. Extremely light; airy; well furnished; very well equipped for those who want to self cater & spotlessly clean. Both washing machine & dishwasher were well used. Welcome starter packs for a basic breakfast & washing powders very useful
Both the staff at head office & the apartments could not have been more welcoming, kind & helpful. Could not recommend more highly to young & old alike, for business or pleasure.

I recently stayed at The Great House in Sonning due to a business trip to the Microsoft Campus. After getting my room at what appeared to be a bargain price, I was more than pleasantly surprised when I arriving at the hotel to find how lovely it was. It was definitely a warm welcome walking into the hotel lobby with a roaring open fire. The room was exceptionally comfortable and the restaurant was second to non. Much more than just your average hotel restaurant! My only, ever so slightly criticism is the fridge in the room is very loud on a night which doesn’t help a light sleeper like me, however it is a very handy facility and one which I was so very happy to open and find ‘real’ milk! All in all, I would stay again tomorrow!
