Beautiful hotel pools are fantastic, staff alright not much personality. Rooms are amazing and comfortable cleaned daily.
Games room closes at 9pm so if older kids very boring nothing to do in evenings.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome and valued. Every request was met with a smile by the members of staff.
The pool area was spacious with comfy loungers and a view of the sea.
Our room was fabulous. Clean and with a huge comfortable bed. The shower was very powerful which is always a bonus and there was a separate bath.
All in all I cannot think of anything that was not up to scratch.

This is a large and beautiful hotel with exceptionally nice and helpful staff. The pools are gorgeous but lounge chairs were very difficult to come by as they are quickly occupied by tourists who seem to get up by 6 am to put books and towels on their selected spots. We actually spent no time at the pool (sadly) as sitting out in the direct sun for hours end was not an option. There were endless numbers of families with very young children (infants and preschool) - often crying and fussing in the heat. There was no place as a couple to retreat to (adult pool) or adult dining area in which to escape this reality. However, the truth is this is a very family oriented facility and as long as this is what you need, and you like large masses of people crowded together you will be fine - it will not disappoint.
We did some research and it appears there is a smaller Riu hotel in Tenerife that might better suit a couple or people looking for a quieter environment. Again, it is a beautiful, large resort and was terrific for people younger children. Our conclusion was that as a couple, we did not really fit their target audience.
We also spent a long hungry night when we needed something to eat and were advised by the front desk that after the restaurants close for the evening there is no food available through room service or purchase at the hotel at all - a gap of at least 12 hours in which the "all inclusive" hotel has no food for guests is not acceptable.

I would not ask for better staff and hotel comfort. I definitely recomment this. One entrance is across the road from a nice black sand beach with some aquatic life to view. Plenty of stores of all kinds around the hotel. 1 hr and 15 mins from Tenerife North airport. Recommend hiring a diesel car for the hills if you are going to be down south. Tenerife south airport is 40 mins from hotel. There is a lot to see so if you are there for 7 days or less, rent a car.

We spent one week in hotel Ole Tropicana in October 2017. The hotel is situated within walking distance from the Troya beach and Siam Park, both approximately 10min walk. It is a rather small hotel where you can feel that they do look after you. The hotel is freshly refurbished and clean. We had a room at the ground floor with a really nice terrace. The room was good. There is only one bad thing to say about it. Occasionally on the morning there was not so pleasant smell in the room. Perhaps there is a drainage problem in the area or something similar. We were half board and the food was decent for most of the nights with some really good choices.
My son had his birthday during our stay and we found a bottle of champagne in our room that day. A really nice surprise! The chef agreed to make a birthday cake for him what saved us a hassle of searching for one in local shops. It was a really delicious cake! All staff were very kind and helpful!
Overall really nice stay at the hotel.

We loved the apartment, it had everything: two bedrooms, two bathrooms, full equipped kitchen : fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, cooker, microwave etc etc.
The bonus is a large terrace where you can sit and lounge or eat.
The only down side for us was the view. You will need to book a sea view, as we overlooked a building site. Or should I say that they overlooked us !
We stayed half board and the breakfast and dinner buffets were excellent. Worth considering as all the restaurants are a taxi ride away.

The towns of Los Gigantes, Puerto Santiago, and Playa de la Arena are on the west coast of the island of Tenerife, just south of the famous Los Gigantes cliffs. The three are adjacent to one another, with Puerto Santiago in the middle. Of the towns, Puerto de Santiago has more local Canarian residents and traditional Canarian restaurants. Playa de la Arena boasts a gently sloping, black-sand beach.
