"Great Hotel, Great Location!"
This is a fantastic hotel. I loved the location and the rooms were pleasant to stay in. The staff was very helpful, accommodating, and super friendly. I would stay here again if I visited Cartagena. My only complaint is they are still under construction and it was fairly noisy in the mornings.

"Outstanding hotel and staff"
From the moment I walked in, the staff practically rolled out the red carpet, and this was not a show. Here's why: I booked a tour through Expedia but the tour operator never showed up. The hotel staff went above and beyond their duties, they saw on my voucher that the tour agency had a telephone number outside of Cartagena so they couldn't call from the hotel. I had no SIM card with telephone service and my email had been blocked because of a signing attempt in Colombia. The hotel staff, at least 3 different agents, used their personal mobile phones to contact the tour company. I highly recommend this hotel. The rooms are clean and comfortable, th AC is cold and the breakfast buffet is very good

"Hotel Caribe, a nice place to stay in Cartagena"
The food was very good and varied. The pizzas were great! Extensive buffets. We did not go hungry. After a hearty breakfast we were ready to take on the city before the sweltering heat. In the city there are plenty of restaurants, but we often just headed back to the hotel and ate there because it was good and very clean. We did not manage to try the sushi bar, it opens at 5 pm. On a couple of days we went to the walled city in the morning, back to the hotel to freshen up, then back to town in the afternoon (it's only $3 by cab). The hotel's exchange rate was actually not too bad, unlike almost all hotels. All the prices are in Colombian pesos, so take your calculator! The exchange rate is about $2,700 per US$1, yep, they use the same symbol as the US$, so a beer costs $3,000 ha ha ha. The workers were all pleasant and smiling, all very polite. Advice: the hotel gives each guest a welcome cocktail coupon, it's a pain to get the drinks. You can also use it to get a 20% discount on the sushi bar. Use it or lose it ! Don't accept the Trivi Tour boat trip to Barú Playa beach. You are better of taking a 40 min. taxi ride. The beach is full of hawkers selling their stuff, no peace or quiet. The exotic fish snorkeling tour is really nice/all full of colored & exotic fishes. The hotel gardens have 4 or 5 baby deer wandering about, they walk right past you. Also several parrots. Be sure to use mosquito repellent. Lots of cable channels, but it's dubbed in Spanish.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
