Short stay but room was ok. Was in the new area near leisure facility. Colleagues stayed in old part of hotel and those rooms need modernising. Very dated and shabby

"Nice quiet guesthouse in central Hexham"
A large room with pleasant outlook (trees), having one double and one single bed. For my 2-night stay I occupied the single, being alone. Very comfortable, but it had no bedside table or shelf and no light or adjacent light switch: rather annoying having to get out of bed to switch the main light off. Room was rather too hot and radiator control seemed to have no effect, so I slept with the window wide open. A very pleasant and quiet place - well, the stairs creak, but it's an old building. The only sour note: I had paid in full in advance with Paypal but the duty staff didn't know that on the morning I left and asked for my credit card details - no way - so I had to reopen my case to find the Expedia printout and wait for it to be confirmed. This was embarrassing and held me up when I was in a hurry to meet friends. I think staff ought to know who has paid. That said, I would probably stay there again as it's an interesting old house tucked away from traffic but right in the middle of town.

The Black Bull is located in the quaint village of Wark on the River Tyne. A truly lovely atmosphere with walking trails along the river. The rooms are recently renovated with a large bathroom and walk-in shower. A beautiful glassed in conservatory with comfortable leather sofa and chairs provides a lovely view of the property. The dining and pub facilities are top rated. The Black Bull is a perfect location for a quiet getaway.

This hotel/inn is in a good place for exploring the northumberland area. The staff in the hotel are friendly and helpful. The bedrooms are good but could do with an update at some point. All in all a good place to stay.

Clennell Hall Hotel

"Interesting place"
This is bit of an unconventional establishment and therefore difficult to review against standard criteria. The building is impressive and the grounds are lovely. It is somewhat 'in the middle of nowhere' in the National Park but that's fine by me. If I were to judge it by normal criteria there would be lots of niggles; the ten minute wait with the hot tap running before any hot water came through, lack of glasses (even plastic) in the room for bedside water (which would have to be tap as no bottled water provided), wi-fi not reaching as far as our room (or I would guess many other rooms as most other guests seemed to congregate in the reception area to get on line), large damp patch on the breakfast room wall, no mobile phone reception (O2) (but I guess they can't be held responsible for that), somewhat dirty and dilapidated window frame in our bathroom etc., etc. BUT the charm of the place really grew on us - in reality it is pretty clean, the bed was comfortable, the hot water when it eventually arrived was hot. The proprietors were charming, helpful and friendly (as was Brandy their spaniel cross). The location is fabulous. We were sad to leave.

"Great self catering apartments!"
We rented two two bed apartments for one night for a family trip to Keilder Observatory. The owners of this converted farm have done a splendid job creating fun and comfortable themed apartments that have every amenity one would require for a short or long stay in this beautiful part of England. We would highly recommend.

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Otterburn, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Otterburn hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
