"Beautifully designed hotel with wonderful gardens."
This is a friendly, efficient hotel close to the old town and the sea. The rooms were well-sized, clean, each with its little balcony or patio, on which smoking was possible. One really good thing was the restaurant advice given us on first arrival. The receptionist recommended a traditional Canarian restaurant, Gemeloes and a fisherman's co-op owned restaurant Coffriria. Both were cheaper and far far better than the many tourist restaurants, slightly out of the way, but packed with locals, and often with queues out the door of people waiting for seats. My past experience is that hotels recommend restaurants from which they get kickbacks. This advice helped make our holiday - we would not have found these restaurants by ourselves. the hotel staff were also very helpful when one of us had an eye problem and had to get medical help.

"Riu Garoe - the Northern Star :)"
Call me old-fashion but i still prefer a good, classy hotel even if i'm on the road a lot with my family. I visited Tenerife for a couple of weeks, done 3000km with a rental car (to the surprise of the agency that was probably expecting only small trips to the local beach) and have seen almost everything that there was to see. The night sky @ Teide. Rock-diving at the lighthouse. Taking our 7'year old daughter to the famous Loro and Siam... When you're an avid traveller that likes to see / learn the history and all the vistas that a new place has to offer, you usually rent an apartment, grab sandwitches for the day, then go out and have a blast of a day and then collapse on the sofa of a trip-advisor chosen restaurant at the end of the day. But after trying that for 11 days i ended up at Riu Garoe which was supposed to be my reward for myself (since i prefer the demipension hotels to the other friends who don't like to be glued to one spot) i found out that this amazing hotel offers you the option to dine late (8-10 p.m.) which leaves you enough time to sightsee and then dine and get comfortable. Since it was an extraordinary thing, i appreciated it fully. The place is a luxurious tropical garden with a great pool and garden human-size chess that i thoroughly enjoyed with my daughter among various other distractions. There was parfume from the flowers in bloom everywhere. That garden is perfect for outdoor Yoga where you can be one with nature. Truly the ultimate experience

"Decent hotel, would stay again for off peak price"
Staff were friendly. Rooms were clean. Rooms need a bit of cosmetic touch to earn a higher rating. Good location overlooking a bit of lago martianez and near the hub of activity (early sleepers and light sleepers may have some issues). I got a decent price, so I felt it was fair value. If I paid peak season price, I might feel differenty. I did not eat at the restaurant. I stayed at both H10 Tenerife Playa and Catalonia Las Vegas for two days each. So my rating comes from that experience. Catalonia is a decent hotel and I would stay here again. I paid the same price for both hotels and under that circumstance I would choose the H10 for sure as it was one level above in most categories including it's view of lago martianez from the room.

"Great for wrinklies"
Returned to this hotel for a second year. Above the town, it has a good sized pool, tennis court, games room, table tennis and boules. Food is tourist average; comfort excellent. Stunning views of Mt Teide. It is used a lot by German and Scandinavian travel firms so expect to be addressed in German at times. Warm, friendly.

"Nice location in a quiet area."
The room was good, after we had paid extra to get one with a view. I had not been offered a choice of rooms through Expedia, and the room without a view that we were first allocated was not very good. The kitchen was poorly equipped and rooms looked tired. But the room we ended up with was very nice, with a great view, plenty of room and very comfortable. We didn't use any of the hotel facilities (not even the pool or the restaurant), so I can't comment on these. The music in the evenings was a bit loud. We could hear it from our room, which was too close to the public areas.

"Cheap and cheerful "
Basic amenities but excellent value. Ideal location close to beach, restaurants and supermarkets. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Enjoying breakfast on a balcony, which overlooked the street, in the sunshine watching people below added to the fun. For what we paid an excellent experience which we hope to repeat in the future.

"Decent stay if its short-term..."
I stayed here for 5 nights. As other reviews say, you get what you pay for. When I arrived at the hotel, I approached the reception desk and a man was sitting at the desk. He mumbled something to me, possibly hello. He waited for about 5 minutes before he got up to check me in. He didn't bother to tell me to give him a few minutes. Nothing. Not the best situation to be met with as soon as I entered the hotel. Overall, the rooms are ok. They are a bit outdated though. It would be nice if the hotel upgraded their beds. They are hard and stiff. For 5 nights it was ok but for a longer stay it would be unbearable. Similarly, the towels are extremely old and thing. Not only that but they only gave me 1 bath towel. I assume its because they think customers will take them to the beach. It was annoying to not have an extra towel when I would wash my hair. I definitely think this hotel should put in more effort to make sure the customers are happy. Staff should be more welcoming and they should provide more as far as the room goes.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Orotava Valley hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
