"Exquisite Old World hotel with exceptional service"
I visited Salzburg with my two young daughters and we were enchanted with the Hotel Sacher. The staff greeted us warmly and offered us an upgrade to a deluxe suite, which was huge, even for American standards. The room was beautifully decorated with antiques, but offered modern luxury with a bed and bathroom to rival the Four Seasons. We had a gorgeous view of Old Salzburg, chocolate welcome gifts, and staff that was so helpful and friendly. And the A/C worked well (it was 90 in Salzburg)!

"Wonderful resort on beautiful Wolfgangsee Austria"
We were lucky not to get a hotel in Hallstatt and found this fantastic resort on nearby Lake Wolfgang. This is historic building expanded into a wonderful lakeside resort, with an amazing spa, indoor and outdoor pools, wonderful restaurant, and excellent service. The room was large with a lake view, but a very small patio. The restaurant for breakfast was one of the best of our Europe trip, and the 6 course chef's dinner in the lake view restaurant was superb. The service was among the best anywhere. The spa is a complete destination in and of itself, with indoor and outdoor areas and pools. The walk through the village and along the lake were wonderful. After our short visit to Hallstatt and the crowds we were relieved to return to St. Wolfgang and this fantastic resort.

"Nice place close to Mirabell Palace"
The Urban Stay Salzburg was in a great location for sight-seeing. A quick walk through the beautiful Mirabell Gardens and you were at the edge of the Altstadt. It is close many places to eat. The rooms are small but clean, with showers in room. We found the beds a little short, but comfortable. The hotel is close to a train line, which didn't bother us, but might if you are a light sleeper.

"Older hotel lots of character fantastic location"
I really enjoyed my stay here. This is an older hotel with lots of character. My single room was definitely small but worked for me. The staff across the board was friendly and very helpful. Location is fantastic - hard to imagine better if you want to explore the old town of Salzburg. Breakfast was very good with a pleasant dining area inside or very nice outdoor area to eat. I would definitely stay here again if I have the chance to return to Salzburg.

"A boutique hotel in the old city center "
Hotel Goldgasse in Salzburg is in a historic building in the pedestrian district of the old city, just steps from the baroque cathedral, two palaces, art and history museums, a magnificent old fortress, concert halls, and a myriad of restautants and shops. It is ideal for visitors who want to wander and explore rather than follow a schedule and worry about how to get from place to place in a crowded, compact city. The hotel staff is attentive to guests' every need without being obtrusive.

This hotel was a nice surprise. We booked a 5-person suite and expected a small room with two double and one single bed. But we got a small suite with two room plus our ensuite - kids in one room; parents in the other. The hotel was extremely clean and the small problems we had were handled quickly. Breakfast was good but cooked-to-order eggs were only offered when one particular staff person was on duty. In our four days at the hotel, she is the only one that offered cooked-to-order eggs. The hotel is walking distance to everything in the heart of the city and there are many restaurants and shops nearby. There is also a small supermarket close by. A mini-fridge would have been very helpful for us as our daughter has several, severe food allergies and we always bring back up food for her. Check in is also dicey late in the day as the front desk is not staffed 24/7. If you arrive after 6pm the keys and a note are left on a table outside the main door of the hotel. If you are unfamiliar with the city it is nice to have someone at the front desk to help orient you to food, parking, etc.

"Close to the station"
We went to Salzburg by train from Germany so it was very convenient. Chair of the room was dirty and there was no pot for drinks. But we had free water bottle. I expected food view but the room we stayed did not have it. Overall, it was comfortable to stay.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
