"Everything I expected this place to be!"
This hotel was everything I expected it to be! As with most ski resorts, the location is nestled away and covered with giant trees. The room was very spacious and cozy. Literally feet away from the slopes as well as the tram to the top of the mountain. Hotel staff were very helpful and informative. I will definitely be staying here again-already planning a return trip!

"Define Kitchenette?"
Although the hotel is clean and rooms come with kitchenettes, there is one small problem. The kitchenettes do NOT come with pots, pans, plates, bowls, cups, utensils, pot holders, glasses, mugs. If you do not bring your own kitchen supplies, there is no way to use the kitchenette. In other words, these are UNFURNISHED kitchenettes. They do not tell you this. If a hotel tells you there is a bed, you assume there are sheets and blankets. If there is a kitchen, you assume there are supplies to be able to use the kitchen.

    Pocket Guide: Anchorage Girdwood Hotels

A former mining town, Girdwood has struck gold with nature tourism. Kayaks and boat charters depart from the waterfront. At the Alyeska Ski Resort, the hills are alive with the sound of winter sports. In Portage Valley, the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center tends to injured animals. Nearby, Portage Glacier—one of 60 glaciers within 50 miles of Anchorage—is one of Alaska’s most visited sites.
