A great place to stay in Lyon. Very centrally located, the rooms are very nice, the beds are very comfortable, and the staff really are wonderful. A shout out to Edith at the front desk for being so kind and for helping me get my clothes laundered. The only improvement I can see is if they had a little coffee machine in the room.

This Hotel is Fantastic. It’s within easy walking distance to everything. Staff are very helpful and courteous. You get treated very well here. It is fairly expensive but worth it. The beds and pillows here are outrageously comfortable. Be careful, you may not want to leave your room. It is a boutique style hotel but was fairly roomy and very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again without hesitation.

Le Phenix is in a perfect location in Vieux Lyon -- easy walking distance to the Fourviere funicular, the Roman amphitheatre, and wonderful food all around the streets. I arrived around 9 PM -- the desk clerk attempted to charge me for my pre-paid room -- I had to show him the Expedia app showing my pre-payment. My room was clean but very small and a good thing I'm only 5 ft 6 in or I would have hit my head inside the room! The furnishings were basic. The bed had a distinct list to one side. The breakfast was good and the daytime desk clerks helpful with maps and directions.

I suggest you avoid this hotel. It is poorly run and our “superior “room was barely big enough to turn around. We put a sign on our door saying please clean the room and no one ever cleaned it during the three days we were there. The receptionist at the front desk in the evening could not speak a word of English. Fair enough. We were in France. But we were in the heart of a big tourist area and he was unable to help people. We never got clean towels until the last night and we had to go down and beg for them. The lounge is decorated like a low end 1970s lounge with bad taste. The smell in the lounge choked me. Maybe it was incense, but it was not breathable. The lift was out of order two days. The breakfast was mostly a variety of different breads. I would say give this place a mess. The only good thing about it is its location.
