Great hotel - great staff

Bathroom was a little tired and no outside window in bedroom.

The room was spacious and clean. The toilet was separate from the bath and shower which was both convenient and a bit odd, as the toilet area/room was built like those on a cruise ship and it was just unsettling. The bathtub was deep and the water temperature was perfect.

Lovely single room that was perfect. It actually didn’t feel small as had shelving and even a little desk. Tea and coffee in the room. Shower was lovely. Staff helpful when I worried about a cat shut in a neighbouring building. And Blue the cat is friendly and desperate to get to your room with you but the signs say no!! Haha

Nice hotel. Finish in the room could've

The room layout (double and single beds) was rather odd. None of the beds had bedside sockets, there was only one plug by the desk, and no bedside tables for the single. The desk was largely taken up by the TV and coffee-making equipment, leaving no usable workspace. Other than a good-sized wardrobe in the lobby, furniture was minimal: just three plastic chairs. Strangest of all was a separate toilet off the lobby with no hand basin, meaning you had to walk back through the lobby and bedroom to wash your hands. Our courtyard room was incredibly dimly lit – even reading the labels on teabags required taking them into the hallway. The decor was an odd mix of heritage features and 2000s-style metal lighting. We stayed with a young child. Staff were friendly, but there was nothing to make the stay particularly special for children. The snacks and drinks pictured in the room description were also absent, apart from filtered water. Breakfast was good, but over three mornings we were never offered table service. We only discovered this was available on our final, quieter morning, when other guests received coffee and omelettes at their tables. Finally, the pool was a major reason for choosing this hotel, but it was closed for two of our three days. There was no obvious notification at the spa entrance; we only spotted a sign on the final door to the pool, having fortunately visited on the one day it was open. Overall, this felt much more like a 4-star than a 5-star experience.
