Perfect location friendly staff and very clean

This is, by far, one of the greatest stays we have ever had! The cabin was brand new and was impeccable from the bathroom to the living space, to the pizza grill. The mini kitchenette was stocked with everything we would need, including beautiful local pottery and glassware. The porch was so spacious, and our girls (12 & 13) deemed this the best place to stay EVER. The hiking trails along the creeks and waterfalls were so beautiful! The owners were so responsive to any of our requests, including the make-your-own pizza kits they picked up for us to have with our girls. I agree it is not suitable for young children, but for a weekend getaway with our older kids, it was perfect all-around. So much so, that we are coming back in the fall!

Cleaning staff were great,! Breakfast was great! Parking was great! night desk person was rude and unsympathetic to our trouble with check in date change. Said it was our problem because we used Expedia and not the hotel Service directly. Also to many Bird's nesting in entrance area and dead baby bird's lying on the ground.

As someone who spent years at Michelin North America helping launch the Michelin Guide in the U.S., I’m attuned to the small signals of a well-run hotel — staff cadence, service pacing, environmental detail, and the ability to make a stay feel personal without being intrusive. Hartness hits those notes. Our room was immaculate, quiet, and genuinely comfortable, with the kind of finishing touches that show someone cared about the guest experience rather than just the design brief. My wife’s birthday was acknowledged with sincerity, not script — a detail that matters more than any amenity. Patterson Kitchen + Bar Dinner at Patterson Kitchen + Bar was the highlight. The kitchen cooks with confidence: balanced seasoning, clean execution, and a sense of place in the ingredients. Hotel Hartness is a property that understands modern Southern hospitality: understated luxury, genuine warmth, and a culinary program that stands on its own. For a birthday getaway, it was exactly right.

All staff was kind, courteous and respectful very helpful. No complaints.

It was hard to get an extra blanket. You had to talk to a computer screen, and then wait for them to contact the staff for you. While checking in I was informed that I was required to pay a $50 security fee on a room that was paid in full ahead of time.

Wouldn’t stay anywhere else

We were there for a quick overnight stay and I would say it was a good experience for a very good price. We needed a pet friendly place and the room rate + the pet fee was still very reasonable. The property is older, but VERY clean and the bed was comfortable. The lady who checked us in and the gentleman who checked us out the next morning were both very nice. The complimentary breakfast was good. We would stay here again. I will add that we did not use the pool, but that area is very appealing.
