This hotel is clean and centrally located in Lion's Head to many restaurants. It sits on the Gore Creek at the base of the gondola and the Berry Picker hike trail head up Vail mountain.
Beautiful pool and views--lots to do!
In addition, my husband forgot his wedding band on the night stand when we checked out. We called the hotel 1/2 hour later, and they immediately sent housekeeping to our vacated room. The front desk associate, Kaitlyn, showed deep concern and empathy and mailed the ring back to us in Denver that very day. She also emailed me the tracking number of the package, locating my email on the reservation, and I didn't even request that. Fantastic service during a time when there have been reports of hotel staff taking items left behind such as ipads and cameras, etc. (in the media--not at Lion Square Lodge).
Highly recommend for many reasons!

For a 3 star hotel, I thought everything was excellent except for the parking situation. The hotel's entrance is in a pedestrian mall and the parking situation was difficult. We drove around for a while and then finally asked someone where to park. The general parking lot close to the hotel was completely full so we ended up parking on the other end of Vail and schlepping our suitcases. There was a shuttle bus that we discovered after our stay. Information when we called to confirm our reservation would have been very helpful.

Manor Vail Lodge exceeded every expectation, was a perfect pick for a first family vacation in Vail. Location was great next to Gore Creek/Ford Playground with a short walk to the Vail Village activities and stores. Bus stop across the street made the rest of Vail easily accessible.
The staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful, the 2-bedroom condo was great for 6 people (with a 2-year old) but could easily sleep 4 more, and the breakfast buffet was excellent.
Only stayed 2 nights but definitely want to come back for a longer stay during the summer.

Had no expectations, decided to visit Vail last minute. Hotel was nice considering we got a great deal during Mud season. I wouldn't pay the quadruple+ winter rate, though - no way!
Pros: Location (in and off season)
Cons: too attentive staff when you don't need it (opening doors when you can do it yourself)
lack of staff when you are lugging multiple suitcases
laundry facilities (all the way down in basement adjacent to garage) - longest washing cycle 48 minutes (?), dryer's lowest setting hotter than the usual highest setting
overpriced restaurant when every other open restaurant offers deals up to 50%
